This “pitchers’ names” convo is like a SNL skit: moderately amusing at first. But then it just keeps going on and on. And you can’t wait for the commercial break.

They’re hitting the ball hard often, but they’re also not making Falter work.  63 pitches to get the first 16 outs.

Where did all the beginning of year - make the pitcher work -  at bats go?

Hey just as I say that Wisdom walks!

Hendricks survives 5 innings, and he was mostly ok, but I still get the feeling that the way he pitched isn't going to fly against 90% of MLB teams.

I don't see many red flags with this performance.  He didn't give up loud contact, and put up a solid CSW% to limit his exposure to randomness.  You could nitpick and as for one less walk or another GB or two, but there's nothing about that performance that says it can't happen again.

The control was my biggest concern.  Too much missing off the edge and not getting swings.  He is going to occasionally get hard, especially against stronger lineups, and has to be able to minimize the damage by not putting guys on.  He got away with it today.

He gave up 7 baserunners in 5 innings, and a collective .158 xBA on contact.  He gave up 3 balls over 90 mph, the first 2 hitters of the game, and the home run.  Yes in a perfect world he keeps that contact management and cuts out some walks too, but they are related.
