Glad for that bases loaded walk before the rain delay but we're very close to needing to have some uncomfortable decisions about Yan Gomes.  I believe in pitcher whispering but I don't believe it outweighs terrible hitting AND terrible framing.

It would be one thing if he was good at throwing people out or as a great framer, but I definitely have never seen that from him.

I felt he was costing Steele some strikes today with his framing (or how he caught the pitches).

Love the Cubs were not completely overwhelmed, any other day, porn-tache would have given up two HR's .  Think Morel' got him lined up, will take him deep on another day.

Does the 3 batter rule for a pitcher still count? Didn’t the pitcher in right now only face 2 guys? Does he have to face Suzuki? Or does the delay negate the rule?

I can't find specific verbiage related to rain delays and the 3 batter minimum.  There is an exception for resumption of a suspended game, but I'm not clear whether rain delays are included there as well.

I doubt it as well. Just wondering if there is something in the rules. Sucks though. The lefty would have to face Suzuki. My guess is if the game starts up again they will have a right handed pitcher on the mound.

On the other hand, they will be on their 3rd reliever already in the 5th inning, so there's that.

In the past, rain delay theatre would typically involve checking back in with the broadcast team every 30-60 minutes for an update.  Now it seems like they just disappear for the entirety of the rain delay and nobody provides any updates until the game is about ready to resume.
