It feels pretty clear that AKME are giving up on this 'hover between 6-10' stuff and have decided to rebuild. They probably got spurred into it (no pun intended) by the fact that next year's first-rounder is top-10 protected and otherwise goes to San Antonio because of the DeMar trade.

I hope its a sort of 1-2 year retool with designs to bounce back up quickly rather than suck for an extended period.  For one, with the draft lottery odds changing there's really not a great reason to tank for an extended period of time.  But also the fact that the Bulls have not been relevant for almost literally an entire decade outside of 2 months in 2021....I can't take much more of this.  They havent won a home playoff game since DRose's buzzer beater against the Cavs 9 years ago... only 3 total playoff wins since that game (3-11 in playoff games).  So almost a decade of irrelevance and where are we as a team? Starting over again with 0 star players, very few tradeable assets, owe the Spurs a 1st round pick and no second round picks until 2028.  How the horsefeathers is that possible?

It pisses me off that Reinsdorf basically pissed away 2 seasons forcing a core that clearly was not good enough to stick together (if you believe reports) when we could have been retooling or doing literally anything else besides obsessing over continuity.  I'm certain AKME aren't blameless but it really feels like Reinsdorf is really the driving force behind the push for mediocrity.  I hate that I'm so emotionally detached from the team and only watch fragments of games each year and I hate that it feels so hopeless that only an extreme amount of luck (drafting a superstar) will give the Bulls any chance to legitimately compete.  And the owner doesn't give a horsefeathers because the UC is packed every game despite sky high ticket prices and ****** teams.

DeMar traded for effectively a bag of beans

Meh, wasn’t expecting much. It was reported that the Bulls didn’t want to take on any contracts, so even accepting Duarte surprises me. Cash Considerations is back though!

No premier player wants to be here, so I don't know who they're saving money for. About one more trade from finding themselves likely looking at a top 5 pick next year.

I think that’s what they want. They’re trying to keep their pick that is tied to the Spurs next year. But just speculating, no one really has any clue what the Bulls are trying to do except stay under the luxury tax.

9 years since they were last relevant and they may be starting off another rebuild. What a franchise

It's amazing how much all the Chicago franchises suck and the only one looking promising at this point is the Bears.

2nd city mentality and the changing nature of sports ownership. It’s no longer about winning games.

Sports ownership in some way use to be about the vanity of the super rich. Now it’s about the super rich getting richer.

I was not expecting them to compete again for a few years anyways, so I'm glad (yeah, let's go with glad) they picked a direction instead of trying to tread water with their continuinity horsecrap.

As always, though, they are two years too late in doing all of this. Going into denial over Ball's knee led to this nonsense, when they should have pulled the cord sooner.

If Lavine and Vucevic remain than I'm not sure they have chosen a direction. There's still the possibility of the ridiculous retool option.

vuc is a good tank commander and Zach will just get hurt again. I really want both gone, but I think the tank can happen with them here.

I agree that Lavine isn't going to stop the tank.  They probably aren't going to be a top lottery team, but they should still be able to finish Bottom 10 to keep their 2025 first rounder.  My bigger issue with keeping Lavine is that he would take opportunities away from other younger guys who "might" matter when/if the team is decent again.  I would rather let guards like Coby and Ayo take the reigns and just see what happens.

The Bears have to be the next team from Chicago to win a championship.  Bulls. Cubs  Sox have no shot until the 22nd century.  Just the Hawks who are about 5 years away

Caught a clip of Danny Parkins adamantly arguing with Bernstein that Derrick Rose will eventually be inducted into the NBA HOF. I truly don’t understand how anyone can possibly defend this take.

They can’t even tank right. The fans will still come. You don’t have to tell us you are trying to win in a year where the draft is supposed to be great.

Perhaps, this is more of believe in what we do vs. what we say situation, has a GM ever come out and said our aim is to lose has many games as possible?

Just don’t say you are trying to win every game when you have a history of being really bad at tanking and not wanting to give up on your crappy core

No but I've heard GMs say stuff that basically equates to 'we're rebuilding' without actually saying it.  That said, GM speak is whatever, I've learned not to take it at face value.  Though, my lack of faith in the Bulls FO makes me believe that they do actually think they can compete for the playoffs with this roster.
