Damn, went from being concerned we'd strand the bases loaded with 0 outs to 4 runs scored just like that!

Lost track of time and see the Bears got a touchdown and are up on the Dolphins 7-0 already! Good horsefeathers

Guessing he probably gets one more inning. Or maybe 2 if they want to preserve the bullpen for once

I would guess he is around 80 pitches for his limit. Maybe low 80’s. So possible he does 6.

Bet the homer he gave up would have only been a homer at Wrigley. Hit is right over the 368 sign. Shortest power alleys in baseball.

Took Wisdom all of one batter to remind us why Madrigal and Morel play third base

Taking a slightly different angle on this than 1908....what do we think the relative value of a MLB PA is vs a AAA one? Like, if we agree that present day Canario is behind Happ, Belli, Seiya, and Tauchman on the MLB OF depth chart, and we want to maximize the possibility that he improves and jumps one of those guys, is it better to have him as a 5th outfielder getting 4-5 PAs a week with the Cubs vs getting daily starts in AAA? Mastro had gotten 13 PAs this year. Does someone like Luis Vazquez get more out of that role or the 66 PAs he's gotten so far this year in Iowa? I really don't know, but I think ideally when you have upper tier prospects that project to be MLB starters, you bring them up as starters, not back of the bench guys.

Not to keep this discussion going and clog up the game thread, but you kind of made my point. With Seiya out for probably 4-6 weeks, this is his opportunity. I fully agree with the concept of not having a top prospect sit on the bench vs getting ABs everyday in Iowa. As we've established, he's not a top prospect and most likely a 4th OFer/DH bat. I'm just of the opinion that he's appealing enough that he should be given more of an opportunity than the Cubs appear to be willing to do. I fully acknowledge that the Cubs have all the data they need on him and have their reasons why they aren't playing him. Personally, I like the thought of seeing what he can do during this stretch before PCA and Caissie eventually take over. Once that happens, Canario will go by the wayside with next year being his last option year. It's really nothing more than I like the idea of giving a guy a shot who could be a cost controlled player with upside as a piece on the roster for the next 5 years vs adding vets every year who have been DFA'd/cut loose.

you are correct.  97.1 exit velo, .170 xBA, HR in 1/30 ballparks.

Amaya's double the previous inning is a HR in 9/30 parks

Keegan continuing to throw balls and occasionally getting the Marlins to swing at them.  2 of them swung at ball 4, the next one finally held up for a walk.

Hard to do when you don't get a shot. We didn't give Velazquez a shot last year, either. It's not necessarily that I like Canario as a prospect and I understand why they moved Velazquez at the time, but pencil me in as wanting to have higher upside guys get opportunities on the bench/playing time as opposed to what we've had on the bench the past two seasons. Next year is Canario's last option year correct? With PCA and Caissie looming, Canario probably won't get many more opportunities, especially with the choice of lineup today.

Canario is out of options after this season

Wisdom shouldn’t face any righties or be playing in the field. Hopefully Counsell learned something today

wcww,  i didn't understand keeping Wisdom in to replace Madrigal glove? Rather peculiar thought process

Yeah makes no sense at all, Wisdom has been really rough at 3B for a while now

Is he? I was going off Fangraph's showing he had one option remaining. I assumed it was updated once he was optioned to start the year but maybe not. If so, then yea he'll be moved this year.

He PH for Madrigal with runners on base for a better chance at scoring which worked.

Fangraphs' stuff like service time or options is generally the before the season value and they update once a year.
