Man, that highlight has everything. Capped off by the patented Chip Caray, “Out!  No, safe!”

I have it bookmarked because of it being the full sequence of what happened that night, i watch it quite often!

I legit might have to quit Twitter from now until the draft. I just scrolled through my “For You” feed and like 16 of the first 20 tweets were something about Fields/Caleb. One was some dude gushing directly to Fields about how he knows how special Justin is and how there are millions like him that know how special he is and the people who are pro-Caleb are a vocal minority.  I just can’t take this stupid discourse anymore and how cringe people are getting about taking sides and looking at the other side as the enemy.  It’s the same horsefeathers conversation every day for 2 months only people continue to get weirder about it as time goes on.

Don't scroll through 'For you.'  Just do following. And mute liberally.

It was time, but it is sad to see Eddie Jackson go. He gave us some real fun moments, but he's clearly passed his prime and can't stay healthy.

I will NOT say the same thing for Whitehair.

Whitehair was a godsend 8 years ago. up until his drafting, the bears had very little in the way of homegrown OL outside of Leno. Sad to see him go.

Heres to green pastures as far as the eye can see old horse

Poles needs to hit FA hard this time around. Surround your QB with weapons and upgrade the horsefeathers out of that line. All the pieces are in place for the team to make the major step forward and win the division.

Or at least beat the Packers maybe.

Posted
  1. Tag Johnson
  2. Sign Hunter
  3. Sign a veteran C
  4. Sign a reliable WR (but not a WR1-level price)
  5. Sign a FS
  6. Add Depth in FA

Then do something like this in the draft:

I believe the primary focus the last two years has been on defense, that needs to be switched to offense this year.  I'm hoping Poles will do everything he can to make sure his QB has the best chance at success.  However, I don't trust him to realize he's got to hit the offense hard this off season.

This team should win 10 games next year even with a rookie QB in Williams.

I would be STUNNED if the bears won more than 9 games with a rookie, and that would include shoring up a ton of holes on offense coupled with a continued rise from the D. not unhappy, but stunned

I mean in the short term with Williams they could take a step back his rookie season I suppose. They at least appear to have an easy schedule on paper so 10 should be attainable.

yes, but they had an easy schedule this year and while they should have won 10 floundered to 7. We can debate the reasons, but Detroit will still be strong and GB still looks like a quality team. I think the division will be harder to win in 2024 than it was in 2023, actually, and wining 10 games sitting at the 3rd spot in the div seems unlikely

I think Detroit has a let down year

I feel like they are on the 3 year upward trend that many orgs get. 2022 they just missed the playoffs but played strongly, 2023 made it to the NFC championship and played tough the whole way through the playoffs, I wouldn't be stunned if they were in the SB next year, honestly.  They had some gafs mid-season in 2023 and a letdown is certainly possible, but I don't see a lot of strong teams in the NFC that could run with them.

I feel like SF is due for the letdown, Shannahan hasn't proven he can get over that hill yet, and they are getting older and more expensive, outside of Purdy truly becoming Brady II

I wouldnt be STUNNED, I mean Stroud and the Texans won 10 games just last year seemingly starting from a worse position than the Bears are at.  But it would require Caleb to be very good from day 1 like Stroud.

I actually wouldn't care too much if they spent money on the D-line this offseason (and I say that as someone who is fully on board with being annoyed at how they have focused so much effort on being good on defense in the past, and fully on board with improving the offense).  I would hope they spend to get a good center (center shouldn't cost *that* much money).  Even if they want to draft one, it might be good to have an experienced one at first with a rookie QB.  But I feel like most really good offensive skill players don't hit free agency.  I want both first round picks used on offense.  Ideally, Williams at 1 and Odunze/Nabers at 9 (if they are gone, I would be happy with one of the left tackles or Bowers).  One of the reasons I liked the Sweat trade from last year was I hoped they wouldn't feel the need to force a pick on the D-line with one of their 1sts in a draft where the top prospects are all offensive players.  I really won't be surprised if they trade back from 9, though.

So to me, it would be ideal if the Bears can try to really improve/load their offense through the draft.  While those players are cheap, I don't care if they spend some money on Hunter/Chris Jones/some other good D-lineman.  When the offensive players get to the stage where they are going to be expensive, focus the salary cap money on them and draft defensive players to replace the older ones.
