NE doing their best to blow it.

It’s an engrossing game.  Are the Patriots bad enough to blow a lead to a first round bust QB?  Do they really want to win anyway?

Nothing. You can use it if you want.  It's true that 10A is relatively recent and seems to have spread everywhere. That's just how language happens.

Can you at least use 1OA instead of 10A? TenA makes no sense. 1 O(ver)A(all) at least has some meaning.

Wonder what Bears odds are of 1 overall now.  This is starting to feel real

The only way they don't get the #1 is if Carolina wins 3 of the 4 remaining games and one of NE/ARI loses their remaining 4 games.

More relevant to the discussion is neither of those QBs are playing for the team that drafted them. One of them worked out well but always came up short. The other was a bust for his team.

Carolina has 5 games left.  They only need 2 wins to tie the Patriots and Cardinals and then it comes down to strength of schedule.  It is still far from a certainty.

I corrected, but forgot about 17 games this year.

I'll feel really good about it if Carolina loses this weekend.  The Saints aren't a good team and it's a winnable game for Carolina.  If they don't get this one, the path to 2-3 more wins gets very difficult.

As of this moment, Carolina loses SOS tiebreaker .525 to .524.

It's going to be really close

Carolina has

(5-7) Saints

(6-6) ATL

(6-6) GB

(8-4) JAX

(5-7) TB

NE has

(8-4) KC

(6-6) DEN

(6-6) BUF

(4-8) NYJ

One thing to consider is that IF Carolina wins the 2 or more games they would need to tie New England, doing so would directly impact their SOS in a favorable way.

Any hypothetical that involves Carolina winning 2 more games isn't worth engaging in. The likelihood of that current train wreck righting itself in any meaningful way and literally nobody else in the running for the top pick winning another game is, in practice, zero.

Texans seemed the same way at this point last year

I think the Saints handle them as well as Green Bay. Jacksonville will handle them too unless they have nothing to play for in the 2nd to last week, which is unlikely. I could see them beating Atlanta, but I think it's still kind of unlikely. The final game of the season against TB is where I think they have a decent shot of getting a win. If they surprise and pull off a win before TB, I'm going to be holding my breath during that game.

Didn't the Texans only need to win 1 game last year, not two like Carolina has to?

Nope.  Texans were 1-12-1 and the Bears were 3-11.  Then the Texans won 2 of their last 3 to drop to second.

4th down and 20 from the 28 yard line, down 6 with less than a minute left in the game, and Davis Mills connects with Brandin Cooks in the endzone. We laughed at Houston, and thanked Lovie for the win, but Houston came out of this quite okay getting CJ Stroud and WIll Anderson.

Still an amazing script. Does Houston take Bryce Young with the first pick if they have #1? Does Carolina make the same deal with the Bears at #2, but during the draft since it was not known who Texans would take? How much better might the Panthers have been with Stroud instead of Young?

Do we steal Brian Burns in free agency this year, just to make sure the Panthers stay at the first pick in the 2nd round next year? Worst team in the league, no first round pick this year, and not many free agents will see Carolina as a prized destination this offseason.

Looking at Carolina’s schedule you can see 2 wins (NO and TB) but that’s only if you at least somewhat disregard just how terrible they are.

I think NO is significantly better than their record, I don't think it's going to be all that close.

If Carolina wins two games, they will be hurting their opponents records, thereby helping them have the weakest strength of schedule. It's likely going to take 3 wins for them to avoid worst record.

I’m not just doom-bonering here, but the Saints are on the verge of cratering.  Had they not rallied to make it a game against Detroit last week, Allen might have been fired on Monday.  I expect the boos to be very loud today.  They can’t stop the run and are terrible against mobile QBs.

Add to this that the Saints will likely be without Taysom Hill, most of their WRs and 1/3 of their defense today, and it could get ugly fast.
