Mesmerized by another terrible pitcher, think that clown would be able to make one time through the Braves lineup without giving up at least two runs?

Really looking forward to the inevitable news story about how Swanson has been playing hurt for the past 8 weeks

That wouldn't be shocking at all.  Maybe even reassuring.

I can't figure out where to find it, but what's the Cubs record in 1 run games now compared to the Marlins?

Cubs are 21-24.

Marlins are 33-13.

Is ceiling not a thing anymore?  Is Morel a finished product?  Good lord, the kid has the  bat already, with plenty of room to grow.

Are we going to get the K rate under 30%? We've got 841 MLB PAs already. I don't know how you turn that K rate and a lack of any defensive value into something substantial. And I don't know how we're the team to give him the chance to do it....do we want him as our third baseman next year? Our center fielder? He's a cheap bat who's going to run into a home run every 5 games. So is Wisdom, except he doesn't take his shirt off nearly as much. If Morel has perceived value, we should take advantage of that.

Looking forward to Hoyer filling out the bullpen next year with a bunch of guys who throw 92

A bunch of reclamation projects you mean?

Think the Marlins are 33-13

They are. For whatever reason BRef defaulted to 2022. I edited it.

From 76-64 to 82-78

But hey just need the Marlins to lose their next 2 games, Cubs to win their next 2 and then the Mets have a 9th inning comeback on Monday and we’re in!

BBRef's schedule page, the Cubs are 21-24 now and the Marlins are 33-13

Another way of looking at it - The Marlins have a 72% winning percentage in 1 run games and 44% in games decided my 2 or more runs.  That is truly amazing.

I do think he got caught in the middle in what had turned into a decent strategy in those down years. Sign a bunch of clearly flawed arms for pocket change, and count on your internal team to turn 1 or 2 of them a year into a fringe top 100 prospect come July. The team was projected to be about 500, comfortably behind Milwaukee and St Louis, wouldn't have made sense to go make a big splash before year on a reliever. I've complained more than most about their inability to add pitching depth at the deadline, but it's been pointed out that you would think every team is in the market for that and no one really did, so maybe, for whatever reason, it just wasn't out there.

I expect them to seriously address it this year, and think there's a couple avenues to that. Will be pretty upset if we take a similar approach.

9/1 2-3 loss to CIN
9/2 1-2 loss to CIN
9/8 0-1 loss to ARI
9/9 2-3 loss to ARI
9/12 4-6 loss to COL
9/15 4-6 loss to ARI
9/16 6-7 loss to ARI
9/21 6-8 loss to PIT
9/26 6-7 loss to ATL
9/27 5-6 loss to ATL
9/28 3-5 loss to ATL
9/29 3-4 loss to MIL

all the 1 and 2 run losses this month. Meanwhile the Marlins are like “down 5 in the 9th? Ok let’s score exactly 6 here and go home”

33 - 13 in 1 run games is flat luck, I don't think there's any other explanation.  Their last in the NL runs scored, bottom half in HR, OBP and OPS, just flat out luck. They'll get swept by the Brewers.

better to end it now than to blow it in Milwaukee in the playoff. hopefully missing the playoffs will force Jed the be more aggressive and stop sitting on prospects
