When you figure in their first half salaries and how much they ate to trade them that's like 147M for 2/3 of a season from each pitcher and 3 prospects.

I can't say that watching the Mets flaming collapse hurts my feelings at all after all the offseason worship of Cohen. The Padres joining them is also fine with me

I believe he gets put on waivers for 7 days and any team can claim him (and his contract).  That won't happen so after 7 days he'll be a FA and the Cubs will be on the hook for his contract. Technically he could play in AAA and not be on the team's 40 man roster which would make absolutely no sense in Mancini's case.

The South Side's obsession with Burger was just flat-out weird this season.  He was a positionless power bat and a decent story, but still, eh.

If he's claimed, the Cubs still pay his contract, minus the minimum salary for both this year and next year.

Ok thanks.  So he'll choose FA most likely.  Worst case for him is he resigns with the Cubs and goes to Iowa, but that's very unlikely.  Imagine someone desperate might pick him up as FA and adds him to their 26 man
