Worst outcome would have been them winning with their chicken horsefeathers approach. I'm glad they lost maybe, now, Mr. win every game he can will start thinking about developing a QB and a passing game.

I’m quite sure he’s thinking about developing a QB.

Just not the one currently on his roster.

Listened to game, Thayer mentioned the opposition is not respecting Fields as a threat. Fair enough, he hasn't shown anything that would make them take him seriously. The opposition must also know they're facing a coaching staff that tucks its tail between its legs every chance it gets and won't stick with it, super easy to defend.

33 completed passes in 4 games

i'm going to guess a new staff working with a young qb has ever turned around that kind of offensive futility

Regardless, of what Eberflus and Getsy say, that's a concerted, designed effort to not develop your QB. Don't know what other conclusion you can come to other than they don't think he's guy.

Velus i don't think ran any routes but as a kick returner he had one decent return, bobbled one catch and then muffed a kick that led to the Bears losing the game.

Kyler Gordon continues to be bad in the most obvious ways but I still have faith that he'll develop

Bisker got burned once that I could see but played solid and had at least 1 nice TFL

Ebner is sub-JAG level player so far, brought nothing to the table

Not sure how Braxton Jones did today but the pass blocking was terrible as a line today so I have to guess he probably did poorly.

Overall not a great day for Poles' first draft class though I continue to have hope for several of them.

Right. This is kind of why I’m disappointed they won the 2 games they won. If the Bears were 1-3 or 0-4 the Bears would say horsefeathers it we have to see what we have here. But at 2-2 they’re gonna continue to try to win ugly ass games

Bears called 35 passing plays vs 25 rushing plays. Fields got off 22 passes, scrambled 7 times and was sacked 6 times.

Interested to see the tape to see how much is bad o-line play, how much is indecisiveness from fields, how much is receivers not getting open and how much is bad play design/play calling

1) its probably all of those reasons

2) why would any of it be intersting?

I salute you for having the stomach to watch game tape of this crap.

Because I’m a bears fan for better or worse and I’d like to understand if Fields (or the team in general) is improving or not improving. Doesn’t seem all that crazy

To be clear *im* not watching tape because I know horsefeathers all about tape watching. I will be surfing Twitter to let other people tell me

Poles, Erberflus and Getsy eye for talent must be otherworldly to know Fields isn't the answer without giving him a chance. Also means, given they're so good at QB evaluation, they better get it right with their choice.

Gordon's been bad but how often are CBs that aren't top 15ish picks able to hold their heads above water as every down players from day 1? I'm willing to be pretty forgiving with him, but to be abundantly clear he's been a mess to this point. There's a bit of the same logic with Jones as well.

Fields had some flashes today, and clearly the supporting cast wasn't doing him any favors. Probably his best game of the season? If games like today were the bad days instead of the good days it'd be a lot easier to feel good about him.

You know they get more than just the three hours every Sunday we get to evaluate him right?

Yes, but, it appears they gave up on him day 1. Probably speaking more from frustration than logic, who knows maybe Fields is being brought along, just at an infinitely slow pace. Stand before taking a step, taking a step before taking another, take another step before multiple steps, walk before walking briskly, walk briskly before jogging, jog before running, excruciatingly tedious.

Fields looked like the same old dog poop to me today. Can't make reads, can't move in the pocket, and the bad throws are becoming way more frequent.

The only downfield throw he's comfortable making is when it's against zone and his first read is wide open in a soft spot.

He's really really bad at pulling the trigger against man defense. In the NFL, 1 on 1 with no help in man defense *is* open even if there's little separation. You throw to where the receiver has leverage. I don't think I've seen fields do that a single time this season.

Agree with much of this. For the 1-on-1 man thing I wonder if this is where not having a dependable veteran receiver hurts him. He doesn’t feel comfortable throwing those “go up and get it” types of passes that you see other QBs throw to their trusted WRs.

This is not absolving him of things, just a possible area where addressing WR more in the offseason could have helped him.

We used to track touchdownless halves under Nagy/Pace and I think the grand total was somewhere around 40% of Nagy’s halves ended without a TD

So far this year the Bears have gone touchdownless in 4 of their 8 halves this year

At some point Fields has say horsefeathers it and throw the ball, his targets aren't going change and they'll never make that play if not given the chance. This whole mentality of not having trust leading to lack of attempts is completely self defeating, why even continue playing if that's the attitude?
