Could be a wet and sloppy affair. Giants host Cowboys tonight and are currently favored by a field goal.

This was a preseason “might be able to win” game that has moved further into tough matchup status. Giants have a short week to game plan for Fields, and could theoretically come out flat if they win an emotional one tonight.

gameplan for fields: 8 men in the box to stuff the run= blowout giants win

Especially if Getsy capitualtes. If they really run into stuffed 8-9 man boxes, you keep taking shots until it finds success and you reboot Fields brain or he throws 6 picks. Whichever comes first is fine.

That's actually my only straw to grasp at from Sunday (and this is definitely heavy cope reasoning) is that Lovie is pretty stubborn and never gonna come off cover 2 and basically conceded the run game. Against a DC who might be more willing to adjust in the face of 150+ rushing yards, maybe Getsy can find a hole to exploit that actually involves Fields arm.

How does the Giants' secondary grade out? They need to find some holes to exploit.

They were really good last year, but lost their best DB, Bradbury this offseason. They've been top 10 so far, but they've faced Tannehill, Baker Mayfield and tonight Cooper Rush; so tough to get a good read. Tannehill did throw for 266 though. Mayfield only threw for 145 against them, which is about 50 more YPG than Fields has averaged so far.

Better question: how is the giants pass rush?

So the Giants almost won that game last night, but there was a LOT of bad stuff from them in that game.

- Daniel Jones was pressured like 22 times on 42 snaps. 52% of the time. I didn't see any from Micah Parsons while I was watching. The Cowboys did blitz a ton though.

- There was a stat shown that the Giants have only had 1 pass play over 25 yards this season. And their best receiver was carted off the field late in the game

- There was a stat shown that the Giants haven't scored in the final 2 minutes of a half in the last 19 (now 20) games.

They are pretty similar to the Bears in a lot of ways. They don't run the ball nearly as well, but Barkley looks pretty good so far and is a threat to break off a big run every time he touches it. Daniel Jones was really effective with his legs and I believe ran for 7 first downs in the game. He kept several drives alive and his scrambling was a big reason for most of their points.

Their defense got gashed in the run game. Almost 6 yards per carry overall, but 8 ypc for Pollard. It also felt like Cooper Rush was throwing to guys running wide open most of the game. Giants don't appear to rush the passer very well, so he had time to throw and crossers and corners were there, whether the WR dropped them or not.

The Bears in comparison only have 2 pass plays over 25 yards, to be fair. And the Cowboys only had a couple pass plays over 25 last night. I think this plays right into the Bears' hands if they can get the run game going and playaction the Giants to death. Fields hopefully will have time. Just gotta make the right reads and throw on time and accurately.

I feel like Barkley is going to drop 200 combined yards on this defense.

Bears might try to stack the box like the Giants, but even then will it work? Iffy.

Jones can run too. It feels kind of similar to the Bears. Which QB with a questionable future and limited talent can be carried to a win with the run game.

Yea, this game feels like the Spider-Man meme.

My prediction is (1) we’ll somehow pull this one out, (2) Fields will put up another poopy stat line, and (3) the cycle of Bears fan bickering with one another will continue on and on.

They can probably afford to stack the box if Jaylon Johnson is back. Otherwise I don't think there's any chance our secondary is good enough to be selling out against the run.

Interestingling Thomas was in a lot last week at Sam, nearly have their snaps ended up being in base. That right yjete is probably an indication they don't love DB room sans Johnson because I don't think they were preoccupied with the threat of Texans run game, yet still felt base was best nearly half the time.

finally some good luck for my fantasy team.

I think he'll have a big game, and Daniel Jones has been running a ton too with a lot of success. Shepard left the game on a stretcher yesterday so I doubt he'll be playing. Toney and Galloday have both been in the doghouse big time this year but I'm sure one of them will have an opportunity to step up. Regardless of how Barkley does, the Giants have still struggled to put points on the board this year so we definitely have a shot at winning this one IMO.

Giants are favored by 2.5 at home which means they basically see these teams as equal (not sure if or how Vegas adjusts for short weeks, that may take 0.5 points off the line)

The important thing is... which Giants WRs will get to go against Vildor and Gordon so I can pick them for DFS?

Their depth chart lists Richie James, Wan'Dale Robinson and David Sills as their starting WRs. Weird because Toney, Golladay and Slayton are still on the roster but they all appear to be in the doghouse.

Those numbers come down a lot when you figure in the 46 and 27 yd long runs for both backs. Pollard still had a very solid 5 ypc but Zeke goes down to 3.3 ypc without his long. The Barkley TD run was impressive though. He made a cut at the 20 yd line and just ran away from everyone without any help.

Toney has been battling some injuries.

Shepherd, James and Sills had the most snaps yesterday. Golladay had 24 snaps, Slayton 14. Toney is hurt, but potentially could be back this week.

Yeah, all numbers go down if you take out the biggest plays. The Bears have shown the ability to make big plays in the run game, so I see no reason to discount those runs the Cowboys duo had.
