Im sure many just want to move on and that's fine. But if you want to read more ex-Cub stuff here is an article with interviews from the ex-Cubs about moving on to new teams but keeping their past ties as Cubs strong.

In the fifth inning that day, the Yankees’ Isiah Kiner-Falefa bounced into a double play. The runner on first was Rizzo. So off he loped toward second base, where the throw for the forceout was about to be gathered up by the shortstop for the Tigers — some guy named Báez. So Rizzo dutifully slid into the bag, hopped up and then wrapped Báez in a hug, right there in the middle of the field.

“Did he get up and hug you?” I asked Báez later.

“Yeah, all the time,” Báez answered, laughing. “We’re really close, always. All those guys with that team from (2016) stayed really close.”

“Did he say something when he popped up there?”

“No, he was just saying I was in his way.”

When you win together, when you obliterate a 108-year-old franchise curse together, the bonds you build are stronger than the Chicago Water Tower. So of course, these men still feel those bonds, no matter where they play, no matter what teams their longtime amigos play for.

SCHWARBER: “I think that’s the common thing you’ll get from everyone, is that we’re all family from what we did there.”

--------

“When you see these guys, what’s the conversation?” I asked Báez.

“The first thing we do is smile, to be honest,” he replied.

“And what does that smile say?”

“It’s brotherhood — and I love you.”

-------------

“What’s the status of the Bryzzo Corp. these days?”

RIZZO: “A lot of tax calls, things like that.”

“Still have your corporate status?”

RIZZO: “The corporation is on hold. COVID supply-chain issues.”

“At least the intern turned out OK.”

RIZZO: “Yeah, the intern got promoted — and then he fired his two bosses.”

Gordo has written some very scathing articles about the Cubs lately. This one is after Rizzo was interviewed prior to his first game back in Chicago tonight (against the Sox)

Rizzo wanted to be a Cub for life and was definitely a bit pissed about the lowball offer (in his mind) and the fact that the Cubs never contacted him in the offseason

What do we need Rizzo for when we have Frank Schwindel aka Nelson Cruz 2.0. I mean sure, he’s not slugging .613 like last year but he’s still at .543. That’s respectable. Oh wait, that’s his OPS this year.

Funny, I was watching Eric Hosmer hit line shot after line shot against us this week and wondering how close those discussions came to fruition for the same reason.

I still think regularly about CJ's obsession with Skittles and him skipping the White House visit to go to the dinosaur museum

I forgot how many teams Farnsworth was on after leaving the Cubs. I always pictured him as mostly a Cub except for the last couple years but he actually played 10 seasons after leaving Chicago and played for the Tigers, Braves, Yankees, Royals, Rays, Pirates, Mets and Astros.

LMAO. Yea it was the Cubs. You piece of horsefeathers, shitty baseball player. Definitely seems like they forced you to go work with guys outside the org to fix your piece of horsefeathers game.

"I made adjustments," Almora said. "I made adjustments that you guys will see in the game. It's visibly different."… For his swing, Almora was not sure at first what he needed to change, but he knew he had to change something. He considered flying to California to consult with one hitting guru, but then found another -- Ricardo Sosa of Team Sosa -- suggested by his father near home in the Miami area. Sosa has worked with J.D. Martinez and a growing list of other big leaguers.

Almora also sought the advice of his friend Danny Santiesteban, who is a hitting coach in the Braves' Minor League system. Santiesteban had visited with Almora in June of last year, when the Cubs were in L.A. to play the Dodgers. They talked hitting into the early morning hours and discussed some of the changes Almora is now employing.…"It was too hard to change something during the season," Almora said. "During the year, you have a mindset, and it's tough. But in the offseason, I was trying to slow everything down and I bought into what both of those guys were saying."…Both Sosa and Santiesteban were in agreement that Almora should work on simplifying some of the elements in his swing. The purpose behind the adjustments was to strip Almora of the constant feeling that he had to have so many moving parts in perfect sync in order to be in a position to hit. If one thing was off, or the pitch thrown was not the one Almora expected, he felt like his swing would fall apart.
