Someone probably already posted this somwhere, but I just saw a stat that Kyle schwarber has now homered in the NLWC, ALWC, NLDS, ALDS, NLCS, ALCS, WS and world baseball classic.

Hasn’t even hit one in the All-Star game. Pretty lame Kyle

Just for fun, a look at how the 2016 Cubs are doing in 2023...

Retired/out of baseball:  Miguel Montero, Ben Zobrist, Dexter Fowler, David Ross, Matt Szczur, Chris Coghlan, John Lester, Jake Arrieta, Jason Hammel, John Lackey, Travis Wood, Hector Rondon, Albert Almora, Trevor Cahill, Justin Grimm, Pedro Strop, Adam Warren, Joe Smith, Clayton Richard, Felix Pena, Neil Ramirez (only looking at Cubs position players that played 20 games in 2016 or are Kyle Schwarber or as a pitcher had at least 8 appearances)

Anthony Rizzo, Yankees: .244/.332/.381/.713 and 0.9 bWAR (too lazy to do this on FG)

Addison Russell, Kiwoom of KBO: .286/.339/.400/.739

Kris Bryant, Rockies: .252/.337/.380/.717 and -0.5 bWAR

Jorge Soler, Marlins: .244/.339/.506/.845 and 1.3 bWAR, 2023 All-Star

Jason Heyward, Dodgers: .251/.350/.465/.815 and 0.9 bWAR (Dodgers made some adjustments but more importantly have given him almost no PAs against lefties)

Javier Baez, Tigers: .227/.264/.341/.604 and 0.7 bWAR (defense still plays)

Willson Contreras, Cardinals: .242/.339/.424/.763 and 1.5 bWAR

Tommy LaStella, Mariners: .190/.292/.238/.530 and -0.1 bWAR

Kyle Schwarber, Phillies: .187/.313/.440/.752 and -1.0 bWAR

Kyle Hendricks, Cubs: 3-4, 3.38 ERA and 1.0 bWAR in 11 starts

Mike Montgomery, Oklahoma City (AAA): 1-1, 3.34 ERA in 8 starts

Carl Edwards Jr, Nationals: 1-3, 3.69 ERA and 0.6 bWAR in 32 appearances

Aroldis Chapman, Royals/Rangers: 5-2, 2.04 ERA and 1.3 bWAR in 37 appearances

Spencer Patton, Athletics: 0-0, 6.75 ERA and -0.1 bWAR in 4 appearances

Rob Zastryzny, Pirates: 1-0, 5.29 ERA and -0.3 bWAR in 18 appearances

Total of 6.2 bWAR with 1 win coming from a current Cub.

Not really making a point with this, just wanted to go back and see where everyone is at.  Really no one from the 2016 team is a star in 2023 except Soler who is literally an All-Star this year.   Would not have expected that to be the case just 7 years removed from a 103 World Series winner with a young core in their early 20's.

The KB line seems the most surprising . . .

rizzo's ops is close to dropping below .700

He hit his first home run since May 20 today.

Prior to going 4-4 today, he had a .464 OPS since May 24.

It really is fascinating. Baseball is very weird.

Addison Russell's fall from grace will always be amazing to me. Guy went from being talked about as a future MVP candidate to out of the league in like 15 months. I don't think I've ever seen that rapid of a fall.

Almora being out of baseball kinda surprised me too, thought he was atleast in AAA somewhere trying to hold on but I guess not.

Almora is rehabbing a shoulder injury this season. He’s technically not retired but also not signed with anyone at the moment.

Guess we might know why Rizzo has been terrible for the past 3 months:

wtf

They clearly borrowed the Cubs training staff for a while.

Yah that story is just crazy and sad. He's been tired, slow, and waking up feeling hungover for over two months. He kept forgetting how many out there were on the field. His reaction time was noticeably slower and he turned into the worst hitter in baseball right after the collision. When your brains that fucked up its really hard to find a way out yourself. Yankees medical staff royally screwed this one up. I just hope he can recover, cause that's a sad way to go out. Still my favorite Cub all time.

That Rizzo story is insane, and it seems like the response is mostly just, "well, would you look at that." Like absolutely not even a whisper of anything happening to the Yankees, or the player's union being up in arms or anything. It's just a variation of the same, "tough it out/rub some dirt on it" horse horsefeathers.

Nine years ago tonight, el Mago got his first start in the Abigail at 2nd base. Starting the game 0-5 with three Ks, he led off the top of the 11th in Colorado with the score tied 5-5.

With one thunderous swing, Javy sent one deep over the right center wall for his first hit, first game winning hit, and first MLB HR.

And that’s why NYC is the best city in the world. I use to go there to watch Sammy. It half filled with Dominicans. So awesome.

when I lived in S. Florida the was a good Chicago bar in Hallandale.

Was just thinking about how we were tracking McKinstry’s performance earlier this year as his OPS was in the .850s. Looked up how he’s doing and

.193/.228/.293/.520 since the start of June (200 PA)

He's almost as good as Javy
