I guess I don’t get why Cohen needs to go. I don’t love him but he’s really useful and isn’t paid all that much.

Bears better tag or resign ARob otherwise this is doomed to failure if it isn’t already

Need to balance the cap hit of acquiring Wentz and running backs are easy to replace - just draft Michael Carter or Demetric Felton.

Beat me to it. First thought on "another offensive player" is Anthony Miller. But I did read someone say Ertz could be involved too. This could be quite the wild trade involving all players that each team has soured on.

Why would we want Ertz?

I don't want him, but who knows what the hell Pace is thinking?

His new deal is about to rank 13th among RB. So it's not nothing. They'll also eat a bunch of dead cap for nothing (would cost them about 2M is 2021 cap space).

Don’t you dare trade away future draft picks from a time when you’ve been fired, Pace.

Can’t wait to be like the Texans of this year, earning a top 10 pick once the bottom falls out but another team has it.

So now sounding like a 2022 1st to Philly. Have seen rumors of Bears getting a 3rd this year. And Cohen NOT being involved (no Ertz either).

While I generally LOVE the idea of the short-on-cap Bears getting an extra top 100 pick this year and a future pick (when the Bears will have cap space) is worth less than a current one, it has the potential to really backfire if Wentz, is bad again and be a top 10 pick.

Probably going down Monday or Tuesday.

The Bears are definitely gonna be the Texans from last year handing over a top 10 pick to the Eagles

Worse than trading 20 is trading next year's first. But Pace doesn't give a horsefeathers.

Yep, I'd much rather do the Cohen, 20, Foles trade than trade next year's first. Given the Bears schedule, if Wentz is as bad as he was this year, they'd be picking top 10 rather easily. If things go South, the Bears are in an even bigger mess than they are now. This would 100% be a "Pace knows he's gonna be fired next year, throw the kitchen sink at the 2021 Bears" trade and that's extremely dangerous.

Why not get Watson if that's the case?

I can't wait to find out that no one even pursued Wentz and a team like Indy gets a better QB in Carr w/out giving up a 1st.

But Pace is still learning and like McCaskey, I'll give him some time.

Probably because Houston wants to do all they can to keep him and has rebuffed all proposals

Yea. And Pace clearly isn't going to wait out the market.

Wentz is #3 on my list behind Watson and Carr, since I don't believe Dak will be available, and I'm also pretty concerned about his injury recovery, so I'm not too overly concerned about overpaying a little bit.

Between the 50 sacks in 12 games and no one to throw the ball to in Phily, I think Wentz will not only bounce back, but he'll have a chip on his shoulder after the way Phily benched him last year. Draft a T in the first round, resign ARob and with that extra pick, draft a developmental QB and I think the Bears are in about the best position they can be given the circumstances. I don't think Wentz is a franchise QB, but I don't think this current roster as currently constructed needs a franchise QB to be successful. The window is closing on the defense, so attempting to improve the QB play before it closes is probably the most important move this team can make.
