I think your 5% is extremely generous. There may be a 5% chance a trade to the Braves happens, but that doesn't mean this scammer had any inside knowledge of it.

Unless the source has whiskers and uses the litter box, I ain't buying it.

Yeah, that strikes me very much as one of those "throw a bunch of rumors out there and if I get close enough people might think I'm legit" sort of accounts.

That said, I'd love an opportunity to buy "low" on Austin Riley and get a bunch of other pieces too.

I can't see the Braves doing it. They're already ~$15M over last year's end of season payroll, and their ownership group is as faceless and corporate as any other team in the league.

I'm curious about the Padres. They'd be a great fit, but I don't know if they'd be as willing to stretch for KB as they are for Mookie. I guess it might depend on if they still view Pham as a CF.

We could always take back Inciarte or Shane Greene in a KB trade for money reasons (both are making $6 million or so this year).

I wonder if that's enough. But yeah Inciarte would be a solid fit on the roster, and the net $ savings would still be comparable to a Quintana deal, which should be enough. It would mean a lot more infield for Happ, I wonder a lot about how that will go.

Yeah, but weren't they trying to bring back Donaldson? It's possible they were trying to get him cheaper than what the Twins gave him, but he still would've, at the very least, cost what Bryant is costing this year and next.

They presumably used most of that money on Ozuna. They still have plenty of room to the CBT, and like most teams they should be able to bump payroll even more, I'd just be very surprised if Liberty Media okayed a ~$40M year over year payroll increase.

The Braves also have very little payroll tied up in future seasons, so maybe it's the case that they are able to shift funds around to make it work.

I'd be stunned if there was a KB trade now. Now that a final big domino has fallen, who out there is going to make a swap, knowing that they might be the only team really bidding?

I think the Cubs are likely to bring the remainder of the band back and see how the start of the year goes. It was always a realistic option, and not a bad option, but would be curious if it ever leaks what the Cubs internal thinking/plan was this off-season. Just seemed like they could never find anything to get going.

Braves, Phillies, Nats, Padres and probably a “mystery” team (Yankees, Rays, Angels?) still all make some sense for Bryant. I’m at the point where I’m fine running it back and hoping for some better luck. If they have to get under the LT attach a prospect to Chatwood and be done with it.

The only KB trade I’m really in favor of up at this point is one that ends up with us getting Arenado (whether that’s a direct trade, 3 team trade or two separate trades).

I feel like I remember seeing this dude report something Bears related and it being true a few months ago and it not being the first time he reported something correctly

I think the Phillies are the team that makes the most sense currently. They have the biggest hole at 3B by far for a contending team, they're in that extremely tight NL East, and they have enough money coming off of next year's books that they can make going over the LT a one year deal even if they extend Realmuto. If they finish 4th this year I can't imagine the GM keeps his job, and job insecurity is how deals get done.

That being said at this point I expect KB to stay and Quintana to go.

I am curious about how the Arenado situation evolves. If he makes it through the season as a Rockie, next winter a Bryant/Arenado switcheroo seems a lot more plausible, when KB will be making ~$25M and the financials are less complicated.

hmm. Theo has the choice of doing something or not doing it and thinking about how cool he's being by drawing a line in the sand and refusing to most past it.

Wonder which one he will choose.

Yeah I agree, I think the Phillies need him the most. Bohm, Howard, 1 of Velasquez or Pivetta and another prospect or two would be roughly what I’d expect with maybe Segura being involved too. An Arenado trade could make more sense next offseason but I don’t think Bryant would be involved at that point for the Rockies with 1 year left. We’d also have to be assured Arenado isn’t opting out too. A 3 team trade right now where KB goes to Philly, Arenado comes to us + a little extra stuff and Bohm and stuff goes to the Rockies makes some sense.

Aren't we kinda running out of time to find a Q replacement? Especially after we basically decided to pass on filling Hamels' spot in the first place? Or are we just going to hope Hendricks and Yu throw up career seasons while Lester, Chatwood, and Mills do...whatever it is they do.
