Was thinking a Rams loss tonight would make things interesting for a bye but they finish with Arizona and SF. Bears would have to win out and hope one of those teams could beat them.

Yeah just saw the score and thought to myself that things might get interesting than checked the Rams schedule and then got angry about the Giants game again.

If it's locked in as Bears/Vikings for the first round of the playoffs, that game is definitely going to be very much like last game of the pre-season.

As a noon game, it's doubtful to be locked in at kickoff, but may not be the end of the game.

If I’m looking at this, the Vikings would need a win next week and then Washington, Carolina and Philly would all need at least one loss (Washington in Week 16, Carolina and Philly either this week or next).

Washington is at Tennessee, Carolina has home games against NO and Atlanta, while Philly has this current game in LA and at home against Houston. (Also Minny is at Detroit).

I don’t think it’s that big of a stretch that they clinch next week

A win by WAS or PHI next week (if PHI holds on tonight) or a MIN loss makes week 17 technically relevant. A less likely Car win tomorrow and next week does as well. A SEA loss next week also keeps things open in the other direction (Min winning 5 seed).

I certainly don't think it's a stretch that they clinch next week, but there are so many paths that lead to them not clinching and basically only one that does. I think I'd take the field.

Ya never know!

9ers just beat the Seahawks.

Yeah...when I posted that, the Rams Eagles game was still up in the air. If they lost and Car tomorrow it would have just been Vikings win and Redskins loss to clinch

I feel like we established that the Bears already lost the tie-breaker with the Saints.... is that true?

No, Bears win tiebreakers with Rams and Saints. Lose tiebreaker to DAL.

In retrospect, allowing that GB comeback in week 1 pisses me off the most.

I keep replaying that shoulda been interception by Kyle Fuller. He catches that ball and the Bears season looks a whole lot better than it already does now.

Basically every loss for the Bears can be chalked up to one what if play, no?

Except for the Patriots game. Yes we had the Hail Mary caught at the 1 but it took a bit of a last ditch comeback to even get to that point and even if we scored there it only ties the game. Plus Parkey wasn’t practicing at Soldier Field yet so he probably blows the PAT.

But if that’s our most decisive defeat, we’ve had a pretty damn good season

oh nice, so things get more interesting if the Panthers fighting for their playoff lives beat the Saints tomorrow

Two games with the Panthers and the Steelers sandwiched in between.

I was actually thinking the Giants game was even less of a what if. It took even crazier set of circumstances to get the comeback, and there wasn't quite a decisive "almost play" in OT.

Ranked:

GB loss (what if Fuller catches the ball)

Miami loss (what if Parkey makes the FG)

NE loss (what if White catches the ball two yards forward)

NY loss (what if Daniels doesn't drop the ball 15 times).

While one dropped game (either looking ahead now that they have a one game lead, or wk 17 if they are wrapped up on the 1 seeeld) would be understandable, it's definitely hard to imagine them dropping two. Still, it's a non-zero chance, so we can hope.

the blocked punt TD and the kick off return, two things that rarely ever happen both happening in the same game against the Bears is more frustrating than the just short Hail Mary from the Patriots game.

Yet they somehow still felt lucky to be in it. It think they recovered a fumbled kick return too which evened out the Pats big ST plays a bit.

Also, with the Rams loss last night and the Rams playing at 3:00 week 17, the Bears most likely will be playing for a bye week 17 now. So don't count on seeing a preaseason type game. And the one scenario that puts a bye out of reach (a Bears loss next week) could also put the 3 seed at risk, so they'd still be playing for something.

Basically my "root for mayhem" list did pretty well last night.

There were 3 different scrambling plays yesterday where I swore Trubisky had eyes in the back of his head. I saw pressure and it appeared as though he was going to be blind side sacked, but somehow he heard the footsteps and avoided all 3 of them and made something out of nothing. Amazing.

yesterday is the type of game Trubisky was drafted for, pocket awareness, reading the field, sharp passes. Hopefully he keeps growing on those aspects

Checked out some post on Packers' boards quite a bit of Rodgers missing wide open TD's to this or that receiver, so many opportunities missed i.e., the same kind of loser horsefeathers I've posted in past.

It's awesome to be finally be on the winning side, Leonard Floyd tossing Rodgers aside like a sack of potatoes brings an emphatic end to Packers dominance of the Bears and the NFC North.

Some have mentioned his step up in play after the cast removal, I've seen it, relentless is fitting.
