Early starts Thursday and Friday at Miller park 407pm and 315pm.

Not too surprising since LA is at home. And Friday they’ll have four games so LA is late and they’re probably hoping for Bos-NYY so that gets a prime time slot.

i kinda hate that if we win we have to play the Brewers, who i'm just so tired of seeing and thinking about

i guess it would be nice to knock them out but i'm just *done* with the whole concept of the brewers

I know the alternative options aren’t great but Hendricks and Cishek probably shouldn’t be on the roster to at least protect Joe from using them if we get to Thursday. Cishek would be in like 5 of 6 days if he goes tonight and you just can’t use Kyle. Also I totally expect him to use Hamels and then him having to go short rest Friday.

It's Hamels' side day, right? If he goes 2 or so innings tonight, it wouldn't be short rest.

I guess technically but game pitches have different wear and tear than a side session. I get you have to get to the next series anyways but at some point you can’t completely shoot your foot off for it either.

I'm not sure why people pretend side sessions are the same thing as pitching 2 innings in a playoff game.

Let's hope Lester can go 7-8 innings somehow and we don't have to use Cole. The one advantage we had over the other WC potential teams moving forward was our rotation was set up perfectly for the DS. Use Hamels and suddenly we're looking at a Monty start and/or a bullpen game for Game 2 of the NLDS

Does anyone have Hendricks' ERA by inning? I know he has been much better lately, but I recall him having some first inning struggles earlier in the season. He would make me nervous as a 1-out or 1-inning guy, so hopefully he is only on the roster for emergency/extra innings purposes.

There is no way Hendricks pitches unless Lester gets hurt early.

Hamels I can see coming in for an inning. Wouldn't surprise me if Joe was planning on that to be honest.

Oh he absolutely is using Hamels

i agree that hamels is 100% coming in. it’s also important to remember that the praise or blame for that rests as much on epstein and the front office as it does maddon. he talked to joe and they made this roster together. when joe decides it’s time to remind everyone how wacky he is, theo won’t be able to act surprised.

ugh

I really think MLB is trying to make this as difficult as possible. Wondering when the pit of alligators is being installed outside the Cubs dugout today.

You can tell this season isn't going well for the Cubs by how many excuses and complains we have about things like the schedule and the umpires and opposing players having hot streaks.

ive actually got my eye on james hoye over there at 3B - our infielders have a lower UZR in games he's umpired. classic manfred trying to ensure that the small market cubs are kept out in favor of the rockies and brewers.

The one that bugs me the most is all the whining about the schedule.

If I’m exhausted from watching the Cubs, I’m sure they are even more exhausted being the Cubs

the Cubs are the only team in baseball history to play a 162 game schedule, or so I've thought with all the complaints about the schedule the last couple of months.

Of course, you can't have the Cubs Rockies off for too long.
