The pessimist in me says, just like all year, only one of the pitching or the offense will show up tomorrow. So we'll either light Freeland up but Jon will get knocked around and we'll lose like 8-6 or Jon will show up big but we'll get little off Freeland and lose 3-2.

The optimist in me says the Rockies were stuck between starting a very good pitcher on short rest or some crap pitcher and it's going to come back to bite them. We knock Freeland around early, cruise to an easy 7-1 win and head to Milwaukee.

Win and come through like you usually do with the backs against the wall and head to the DS Thursday like we expected all along and forget these stupid last ~10 days ever happened.

So John, what are your thoughts on the Cubs having to play in the WC game?

Ok. Well, uh, would you care to extrapolate a little bit?

Could we get more than a one word answer?

Sorry, I didn't quite get that...

Perfect. Thanks for your thoughts on that!

So switching gears, what do you think Jon Lester's midset is going into the game?

The Rockies, I know this is their third game in three cities in three days, but they've got their ace going. And even though he's on short rest, they probably think they've got a good shot to win this game.

So if you were in Jon Lester's shoes tonight, what would you tell Kyle Freeland and the Rockies?

Thanks for your time, John!

The bad new is if they lose we can’t watch the cubs anymore. The good news is if they lose we don’t have to watch the cubs anymore

Murphy better not be in the lineup tonight and preferably the rest of the post season.

You’re benching him in favor of...

Bote or Happ, at least they have more range than a broken stove.

Murphy has a better chance of hitting a baseball, and that's the one thing this team needs the mostest help with

563 OPS vs LHP.

And did you see his last AB? He was clueless.

Bote has an .871 OPS against lefties (vs. .668 against righties). I like this idea

And Happ's wOBA is almost identical to Murphy's for the season and in Sept.

Rogers just tweeted that Murphy and Rizzo are the only LHH in the lineup today.

My guess

Murphy 2B

Zo RF

Javy SS

Rizzo 1B

Kris LF

Bert CF

Bote 3B

Lester P

Willy C

I have an inkling that it'll be Happ instead of Bote given Freeland's repertoire, but maybe he feels Bote is the better 3B today and wants that defense optimized with Lester on the mound?

FWIW, he said IMO, FYI

LOL, YMMV.

In all seriousness, I missed that. Given that it's his opinion, it's almost certainly wrong.
