I can't even imagine experiencing that game without having won it all the year before. As it was it was freaking insane.

Yeah, many times during that game I kept thinking what a miserable wreck I would be if the Indians had walked off the Cubs in the 9th. Now imagine if that we’re all true and we were playing the Cardinals?

 

My wife would probably have convinced people to put me in a padded room.

I was actually playing midstakes limit poker while watching that game. I hit river quads on the river against a higher set just as Davis entered the game. That was intense.

I think what game threads are lacking right now is a Cubs' drinking game. A drink for a base hit... chug for a home run or Seinfeld reference from J.D... etc.

Strasburg has not been too sharp since coming back from his latest injury. 9 runs allowed in 16 innings. Hopefully it takes him at least another start to find his rhythm

I find it funny people throwing around "must win" for this game when a virtually identical scenario happened last year and we easily overcame it. If you recall, the Cubs came into a series with the Brewers on September 8-10 with a 5 game lead - the largest of the season. They then got pantsed by the Brewers and left the series with a 2 game lead. Everyone freaked out, but the Cubs responded by going 15-4 to close out the year and had 4 meaningless games to close the season.

 

This year the series was from September 3-5, the Cubs came in with a season high 5 game lead etc etc.

 

Oh well doesn't matter we won the last game so the scenario is a bit different now.
