Do they think he was paid all $182 million this year? Just a ridiculous comparison. Sucks so much for him that his body broke down. He's D Rose with a ring.

Yeah, it's a dumb meme, but more just sad for Bryant

Mariners signed Patrick Wisdom to a MiLB deal. He cranked 35 HR in the KBO last year.

Good for him.  Always felt he was a good dude.  There had to a point (several probably) in his late 20's where he felt about hanging them up.  At least he ended up making some decent money.  I always figured there was a good race to see whether he or Frank the Tank were hoarding more per diem back in '21.

It's sad that Schwarber is the only guy from the 2016 core that still rocks. Sad he was the one we jettisoned first.

Kyle is aging well, in fact his last two years have been easily his two best years.   It seems to me this is the exception more than the rule for players his age?

I have posed the question in other threads before, but seriously, what is the deal with Mark Grace?

As far as I can tell, he is the only living Cubs Hall of Famer who almost never (or more recently, never) attends any team or alumni events.  I believe he was close to Ryne Sandberg, yet he wasn't seen or heard from after Ryno's death.  He never comes back for Cubs Convention.  I believe the last time he did anything with the team was when he made a brief appearance at Spring Training last year.

I have to wonder if he is not in good terms with the organization, or someone within the organization.  Or does he simply never leave the state of Arizona?

I know he has had his issues over the years, so I hope he is doing alright.  The broadcast thing didn't really work out, but I just wish we would see him around the team more often, especially at events like Cubs Convention where his absence has been notable.

Well last year he was 32, which isn't that old. He's right on the cusp of age regression though, which stats show seem to start on a league level at age 33 for bat speed. If he put up a career year this at age 34 then yes that's very rare.

I am not saying he won't regress. But I think his swing will age well.

He's not a memorable Cub in a good way but Ryan Pressly retired and joined the Twins front office.

Ah yes.  I remember in the early part of the season during his struggles where there was lost postulating and producing of ZIPs projections and referencing of past performance as an assurance that a return to past glory was just around the corner,

I would bet he's a guy who really has to stick to a regimen so he doesn't relapse with the booze and getting out of that routine is a real problem for him so he sticks close to home where he's in his comfort zone and has the support he needs.

Another old pal is joining Wisdom on the Mariners AAA squad: Michael Rucker. Was out of baseball last year but has been throwing a lot recently. I only know this because he is a card collector and he and I chatted on Instagram awhile back and he sent me some signed cards.

The fact that he's suspended this time around from a 2023 test, for weed no less, is absolutely ridiculous.
