Gameday has shown at least 3 pitches as "Ball in the dirt" but as uncalled strikes on the bottom half of the zone. What is going on?

I'm guessing they are bounced pitches? I would be able to tell you, but somehow this game says blacked out on CSN's website, my phone's data plan in Chicago, and my brother's MLB account that he set up in Champaign. Which is nice.
