Would rather sign Jansen and use prospects/Soler for other needs.

In the short term however, it appears they can pull the trigger on Sale and McCutchen and sign Chapman or Jansen and somehow not lose Trea Turner.

 

I actually welcome this if they manage to pull it off. Would be fun to have everyone focus on another team in the league, and then watch the Cubs earn back all the love.

 

I feel like a Sale deal has to include Turner.

Giolito(4),Robles(13),Lopez(48),Fedde(61), international signing Juan Soto, AJ Cole. Last year's early round guys Carter Kieboom and Dane Dunning. Michael Taylor still has a little shine. They have lots of talent to move around.

I'd rather just trade like Duane Underwood and/or minor league spare parts for K-Rod than trade Soler for Davis and his elbow problems

What the hell would we do with Gallo? Or are you saying bring a 3rd team in to send him to? If that's the route, maybe there's a 3-team trade where Soler and stuff ends up in Texas, Profar, Gallo, Happ and stuff (admittedly big stuff yet) end up in Tampa and Archer and a RP end up with us.

Pretty much. Trade bait, basically. Or you keep him in the minors and wait for him to turn back into the dong crushing juggernaut he was two years ago, because he still obviously isn't ready for MLB pitching yet, and you use him like we used Schwarber in 2015. Then if he proves himself valuable in his time on the MLB club, and Schwarber plays like Schwarber, you can comfortably explore trade options for Schwarber in the offseason, maximizing his value to an American League club and getting a hell of a haul for him while an MLB ready Gallo is ready to take over?
