Joey Gallo only had the 81st worse K% rate in MLB last year, not bad until you realize that's of all players who had at least 1 PA and all 80 players in front of him are pitchers.

Idk who's available that this fits, but I'd guess Montgomery types of guys who were good-decent prospects, came up and struggled and maybe lost a role with their current team? Maybe someone like Archie Bradley or Mike Foltynewicz or Wisler from the Braves?

gallo is mike olt without the sudden blindness

That's a good thing, you know.

I'm saying he can't blame sudden blindness. He's just that bad.

Yes, he strikes out a lot, hence leave him stew in the minors while he continues to work on his swing.

This definitely sounds like the Braves or Rays would be matches here.

over/under on dusty tearing his arm to shreds?

Nats GM- "Dusty, we lost Melancon to the Giants today, but it looks like we have a real chance of getting Chris Sale."

Dusty- "Great! Sale can start every 5 days and close a day or two in between starts like Kershaw did against us in the playoffs, right?"

Castro/Torres/Soler/Billy Mckinney/Crawford

for what amounts to 1 full season and 3 months of team control for closers. Davis also costs 10M and is coming off two DL stints for forearm strains. Doesn't seem like the best use of assets.

If Castro is in there, then 4 years of Zobrist is too.

And even if Castro isn't in there, throw in a World Series title.

That too.

I don't love Soler for Davis, but Torres and filler for Chapman and Castro's trade creating the opportunity for Zobrist both worked out pretty well.

Pitchers I like with options left:

Mike Clevinger

Daniel Norris

Archie Bradley

Sean Newcomb

Carlos Rodon

Luis Severino

Jose Berrios

Tyler Skaggs? Might not have options

Blake Snell

Brett Honeywell

Eduardo Rodriguez should probably be on that list and someone I forgot in my quick mention of guys. He has to options left.

Sam Dyson or Alex Claudio, please.

Hard pass on Sam Dyson, personally. Don't like his peripherals at all. Doesn't miss bats, walks more dudes than I'm comfortable with at the back end of the bullpen, has worrisome FIP's. I know we have a good defense and all that, but I'd like for my closer/back end bullpen guys to be able to get outs on their own just as much as they would rely on the defense behind him.

Diekman would be a nice piece to work on. Averages 95 on a 2 seam from the left hand side but he hasn't controlled the walks yet. Still that pitch and his slider graded well last year. Only 2 years of control though.

Could it be Candelario for something?

That would seem to make sense.... Maybe it's just for an arm reliever, but if it's the start of something bigger.... How much value does Profar still have? Could him and like Soler lead a package for Odorizzi?
