Well then we'll see in games 6 and 7. I mean, we were only home for games 1 and 2. We couldn't clinch anything then.

crowds were there in 03 for games 1 and 2, iirc.

that said, it wouldn't shock me if there were a bunch of people out there on saturday night

you think that a few hundred people were there so they might get a chance to catch a home run if one went on the street?

What other reason would there be?

The atmosphere, potential to get drunk and celebrate

but they can still do that and they dont. only thing that has changed is no more home runs, unless the city cracked down on it

Yeah I really didn't realize how much of a jerk Adrian Gonzalez was until this past week

He boycotted all Trump Hotels while the team stayed at them during the season...thats gotta be good for something

yep. i totally agree. i think how much i hate dusty is also related.

Dusty Baker is like that gaslighting b/f that charms everyone. The gaslightee is never believed, and once they escape they're like, "Are you KIDDING me?! Don't you SEE it?! He's awful!

Cubs are on the verge of winning the pennant and you guys are talking about '03?

That's because it's all the national media idiots and non-Cub fans can talk about right now. I almost want to watch Game 6 in a bar with no sound so I don't have to hear Joe horsefeathers opine endlessly about Steve [expletive] Bartman.

I decided to put off my Sling TV subscription unless and until the Cubs win the LCS. I'm not into dealing with Buck's BS any longer than I have to.

Do we think Joe Buck will get rock hard at exactly 1 out in the top of the 8th, or will it be a gradual build.

I can't wait for that moment......Watching him try to be dramatic with us up 9-1....

The tying run is 5 base runners and 4 batters away folks, hold on!

Seeing as the Rickett's family

at least crazy 'Ole Joe, who shares no interest in the Cubs

is pro-Trump, he should boycott Wrigley Field too.

there is a part of me, and a LARGE part of me, that wants to replay all of his calls like that to him when the cubs win and ask him plainly just what in the horsefeathers was he trying to get at

Prediction: 0-0 in the bottom of the 9th 2 out; Kershaw has a 120 pitch perfecto going as he throws the 3-2 pitch to Chris Coghlan, then immediately collapses into a heap of exhaustion, allowing Seal Boy's weak comebacker to get through for a hit. Enter Kenley Jansen. Enter pinch hitter Jason Heyward, who rockets the 1st pitch he sees onto Waveland. Out of habit, J-Hey begins his woeful trudge back to the dugout as the crowd erupts, and his team mates have to direct him around the bases.

If we win Saturday, I'm definitely going to head over to Wrigleyville to soak in the crowds and the drunken stupidity.

I also just heard Hughes' call of Russell's home run and its....very strange. I've never heard him drop his voice and just kinda monotone say "Goooone" like he did there. Whoever in the gamethread said it sounded like he was saying "Dong", which I like.

anyone have any theories as to why we haven't seen the crazy crowds around wrigley that we saw in 03? it's not like those people were out on sheffield and waveland just to ballhawk, and they obviously couldn't see horsefeathers.

Do balls just not get to the streets as often thanks to bleacher expansion?

the expansion and the boards i think have really cooled that. but, again, those people were seemingly there just to be there.

the Cubs being in the postseason used to be unique enough to justify just being there on the street. It's happened enough now that those weirdos figured out how unenjoyable that must be.

Is this you not knowing who Seal Boy is or not knowing that LaStella isn't on the roster?

Or him still thinking you could add and remove players from the playoff roster at will, including in the middle of a Clayton Kershaw pitch.

Security concerns would be part of it. Doubt they want thousands of people standing in the streets outside the ballpark loitering in one spot.

The games at Wrigley are on the weekend, so a lot of folks are going to be at the bars drinking (which presumably have expanded some since 2003). Wrigley also has a couple thousand more seats/thousand. Can't drink in the street.

I think there's also probably a few less diehard national fans wanting to travel in just to stand near the park since there's no WGN America games anymore (and that network has greatly declined in popularity since the 90s).

These guys are ready. The bats are hot. The young kids are shining in the spotlight. Kyle is a stud. Our defense is ridiculous. The Dodgers suck. And they are about to wilt under the pressure. horsefeathers Adrian Gonzalez. horsefeathers 2003. horsefeathers 2008. We're going to the World Series.

wait, what does wgn have to do with number of fans stupidly standing on the street for a playoff game?
