Has anyone seen any of Casey Mize this spring? Looks like hes had a good one. I wonder if this is the year he can get back to his 2021 form. This would be his second year back after TJS too.

That's 3 Brewers SPs injured this spring.  And Brandon Woodruff is apparently topping out at 94.  It's the Brewers so they'll somehow find a way but jeesh.

Jose Quintana, setting aside the fact that he would have been a better signing than Colin Rea, is now their 4th starter. Their third starter put up 0.9 fWAR in 160 innings last year. Bullpen magic-ing is a lot harder without the second best reliever in baseball in the last four years. Rule them out at your own peril, but, objectively, this isn't a good baseball team at the moment.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Houston Astros right-hander Hayden Wesneski will undergo Tommy John surgery, manager Joe Espada revealed on Sunday, dealing another blow to a depth-starved starting rotation already missing one mainstay.

Wesneski went on the injured list backdated to May 7 with what the Astros described as right elbow discomfort. Initial imaging showed too much swelling inside Wesneski’s elbow to render a firm diagnosis, but a follow-up appointment with orthopedic surgeon Dr. Keith Meister confirmed the need for reconstructive surgery. The operation will take place this week.
