This could effectively end their window. They needed him to be his regular awesome self. Springer and Brantley FA this offseason, Correa the one after.

https://www.mlb.com/news/dustin-may-injured-ucl-in-right-elbow

Dodgers phenom Dustin May was found to have some damage to the UCL in his right elbow, a source told MLB.com reporter Jon Paul Morosi. The team, which has not commented on the report, is expected to make the official decision on how to proceed in the next 24 hours.

May landed on the injured list after leaving early during Saturday's 6-5 loss to the Brewers. May was in the middle of an at-bat with two outs in the second inning when he visibly winced and signaled for the athletic trainer after throwing a pitch. Manager Dave Roberts described it as a “shooting sensation” in the right-hander’s pitching elbow.

They updated the article to say he's getting Tommy John surgery.

So if removing the super sticky stuff will lead to an uptick in UCL injuries, we should have seen a downturn in UCL injuries the past few years.

Not buying it. Sounds like a pitcher who is angry at what’s probably pure coincidence.

Not buying it, either.

As a former educator, it sounds like, "Wait, I can't use my cheat sheet? You're really going to make me study to pass the course?"

Pitchers have been using pine tar and rosin for 100 years and sunscreen and rosin for 30. I understand getting rid of spider tack, but I don't think most people understand how slick a new ball is, even when properly rubbed.

Wasn't a scap injury one of the things that happened to Prior towards the end?

When I read the tweet that’s exactly what I thought too, I think Prior had the same thing.

So he doesn’t throw for 4 weeks, then what…2-3 weeks after that he’ll start? Early June return I guess.

I doubt that... You have to be very careful w/ stress reactions and want to err on the side of caution. I bet he misses a rather significant amount of time this season. I would say in the 2nd half of the season if I had to take a guess.

I hate the Mets, but I love watching Jacob deGrom. I wonder if he still opts out of his current contract now.
