Zobrist injured his wrist on a swing on May 26.

Zobrist in 158 PA through May 25: .266/.354/.468

Zobrist in 81 PA since then: .113/.213/.169

Zobrist average exit velocity through May 25: 87.3 mph

Zobrist average exit velocity since then: 84.5 mph

It's definitely the wrist injury. His plate discipline numbers are the same as they've always been. He's actually graded out very well defensively at second. I don't think it's a case of aging or being worn out. I don't see many signs of him getting old... other than him hitting like a weakling since the wrist injury.

Now, I could see the wrist bothering him all year. And that would suuuck. If so, he's going to continue to struggle. And we really need that to not happen.

Though, I suppose it could be that he is starting to break down. And him getting injured is the sign of him aging. And he'll keep getting injured and never be healthy again.

But, I think if the wrist feels good, he can be his normal self. Hopefully that happens sometime this year.

Good stuff. I honestly forgot he was hitting that well at any point. He should not have been trying to play through it, that's for sure.

I can't even clown on the rando meatballer who wanders into this thread to attack Heyward because....why bother? He's right, for the wrong reasons, he's right to be disappointed.

If you go by fangraphs, Heyward has been less valuable this year than last (due to his dWAR taking a nose dive.)

Imagine how much he'll such when the balls aren't juiced. He won't hit anything past the mound.
