Why the fudge do the Cubs have Friday off and then a two-game series with the White Sox?

Mercy.

Excellent point! They can get swept at the Cell, but only lose two games instead of three. Very savvy of the Cubs.

It looks like they are limiting all geographical inter-league rivalries to 2 games at home, 2 away.

Yankees/Mets

Athletics/Giants

Marlins/Rays

Cards/Royals

Reds/Spiders

I think it was the same deal the past few years, I do remember the 4 Cubs/Sox games being consecutive, 2 at Wrigley, 2 at the Cell.

Given that this should be table stakes this is less "way to go Cubs" and more "finally we're not on the bad side of one of these lists" but still good to see.

The rare occasion in which I get to say that Cub ownership isn't 100% complete and utter horsefeathers.

I mean I guess its fine to give them credit, but we're talking about them doing something that like 25 other teams are also doing. Yes it would be very Cub like to be one of the handful of teams not doing it though I guess as the Cubs seem completely incapable of doing the right thing.

“I’m sure Mets fans would like to keep [brandon Nimmo], and maybe they will — Steve Cohen is the owner, so there’s always hope. Some teams I’ve heard that could be interested in Nimmo include Seattle, who we talked about earlier, Texas, who we touched on, as well, Cubs, who I hear they’re gonna spend, so that’s going to be interesting and something something to keep an eye on. They need to spend and get better.”

Not gonna tell you how to interpret this, but only 11 teams were doing both(EXST pay, own bedroom in every affiliate) according to the Twitter account:

My bad, I just read the tweet where it said the Brewers and Reds were 2 of the few teams. Should make sure I'm educated on the matter before offering praise and/or criticism. I...just cant help myself when I comes to the Cubs

By my count we now have like 12 dudes from the projected 25 man roster who are in the IL:

Suzuki

Miley

Smyly

Mills

Villar

Bote

Heyward

Alzolay

Hermosillo

Gomes

Madrigal

Wieck

Ironically, the combined WAR of the 12 is probably equal to a replacement level player.

True, although I suspect we’d have another two or three wins if Miley had been healthy all year.

I have not been to a Cubs game since I believe 2010. I have tickets to 2 games this month: next week in Baltimore and the following week at Wrigley.

I'm going to the Pirates game on the 23rd (in Pittsburgh), but only because a good friend (who I haven't seen in a few years) has free tix

Someone must have heard that they're winning the division.

That was a tremendous moment. I horsefeathering love Contreras and I'm gonna miss him terribly when he's traded.

It isn't too late. I don't care if the Cubs trade Happ, but they should re-sign Contreras and let him be the bridge to the future. Yadi is 39 years old, and now especially with the DH, there's no reason Willy can't be productive for another 4-5+ years.

it’s just rank sentimentality, but I’d like it if a core member of the 2016 squad made it til retirement as a Cub.
