I know there are some concerns about the Cubs' tv deal given the alleged money crunch this winter, but this is certainly a very positive sign.

Yeah I posted basically this in the Sports Media thread when Jersey posted a similar tweet. Has to be good news for us with whatever we are trying to negotiate/structure with our new deal.

I haven't read a lot of the specifics, but it sounds like the big lever is that they're trying to better negotiate in-market streaming and similar stuff with RSNs across the league, and that probably has a far bigger impact on the TV deal.

I just received an email from the Cubs alerting me to a concert on June 14 and 15 of Dead and Company. I wonder how much the Ricketts are pocketing for these concerts and I wonder if the money is going to the Cubs or if the Rickets are "renting" the field and putting the profits elsewhere? Same with all the development around Wrigley. Is that going to the Cubs or the Ricketts Family Trust?

I find it so hard to believe that they are strapped for cash.

I can’t remember how it resolved, but I know at one point there was talk of selling the Cubs and Wrigley separately. Is that how it went down?

lol "signals a breakout" is a pretty optimistic take on his almost unplayable 2018

Yeah breakout is a bit much, but it’s good to see some underlying improvements were taking place so hopefully he at least is more usable this year. I still think he was rushed a bit to MLB and he needs more time until we can figure out exactly what he is but I’m optimistic he can be some sort of useful and valuable enough player eventually.

Guess we discuss the Morrow news here since the other thread was rightly locked

I'm glad that this was discovered now so we can plan accordingly. At this point we should just treat anything we get from Morrow at least in the 1st half of the season as a bonus as we build our 2019 pen.

First horsefeathers Dr. Gryzlo. Second yeah he shouldn’t really be planned on in the first half and maybe that’s a blessing to keep him healthy to not bring him back until June/July and go easy from there for the playoffs. Third and final, LOL at our “connected” beat writers, he had this procedure in early November and not a single one reported it until early December. These guys have no sources

Every Cub fan goes right to Darvish as a big mistake, but at least he'd been pretty healthy post-TJS. Signing walking medical bill Morrow is looking dumber by the day.

He only costs $9 mil a year and is done after this year, we all knew this was part of the risk (and why he was relatively cheap). He did give us 30 awesome innings this year and Joe/medical staff fucked him up, hopefully they learned their lesson that he needs to really be on a strict schedule when he comes back this year and he's back to normal by middle of the year and maintained to be healthy and ready for the playoffs.

Has he thrown any ML innings since his surgery? Actually I'm worried about what we can expect out of Darvish and whether Bryant's shoulder is okay with rest or will he have more pain.
