I'd like to know why the x ray film at the dentist is the same giant chunk of cardboard with sharp edges that I had to endure as a kid back in the 70's. Shouldn't we have better tech for that by now?

If you get them drunk on top shelf stuff it negates the risk of radiation.

What my tooth guy uses doesn't have the sharp edges anymore, but its heavier and only mildly less annoying.

They have an exhibit about them at the Museum of Surgical Science in Chicago (an awesomely creepy way to spend an afternoon), and the main problem wasn't that they were x-raying feet, but that the whole box/setup was just blasting x-rays all over the place onto the customer and the salesman.
