First horsefeathers Dr. Gryzlo.

I swear, Dr. Spaceman has less made up-sounding name than this imposter.

i might've gone with

Every Cub fan goes right to Darvish as a big mistake, but at least he'd been pretty healthy post-TJS. Signing walking medical bill Morrow is looking dumber by the day.

I mean it was a gamble, but one that allowed them to get a pitcher with elite closer upside at an affordable rate. And he did just that for half a season, maybe he can do that for another half of a season. But I don't hate the move, especially because the Cubs built a pretty deep pen around him with Cishek, Strop, Edwards, Wilson, Monty (forgetting someone?) and supplementing during the season with Chavez when Morrow was still healthy. They certainly had plenty of depth to sustain the injury. Even when Strop went down and Edwards completely lost it, the Cubs were able to put together some semblance of a decent pen.

I’m bored and trying to get myself blocked from Kaplan on Twitter. Wish me luck and hopefully the offseason picks up so I don’t have to stoop to such levels again

Both Kaplan and Haugh blocked me for making fun of a "Kap & Haugh" commercial.

I really tried to give him the business but he’s yet to block me. He must still be feeling that Christmas spirit

I found out recently that I work in the same building as all the CSN people, so I've been seeing them around. Kaplan is extremely short and Chuck Garfein has had so much work done he looks like Lisa Rinna.

I think Kaplan blocked me for calling him out for saying people were making excuses for Castro when he had some mental lapse right after coming off the bereavement list when a relative and a few of his friends died in a car accident.

I mean, yeah, in hindsight, Castro did seem to have a tendency for that sort of thing but that might've been one time to cut him some slack.

That decision to bat Strop when he subsequently pulled his hammy pisses me off every time I think about it.

Of all the things Maddon has done that make us go "WTF are you doing?" That one kind of takes the cake. Even if he didn't get injured, it was just dumb as horsefeathers to do that and would still rank in the top 3-5, IMO

re-watching the cubs 2016 postseason highlights video on youtube (21:38,highly recommend) and nothing has ever been more swag than dex homering and hearing the BANG off the video board in right field after the Miggy HR. I was already on cloud 9 and he just did that for shits and giggles

I happened to watch some of Game 5 for the first time last night and didn't even remember we were trailing 1-0 going into the bottom of the fourth and hadn't done anything up to that point, while also trailing 3-1 in the series.

A lot of work had to be done from that point on to win the World Series. Really cool they found a way to get it done, because you never know when the next one might come.

Bryant is number 20 but for some reason they predict he will be on the Dodgers in 5 years

Well yeah, he's going to want to join Harper

It's gonna be hilarious when it turns out Bryant does hold a grudge over the service time thing and refuses to re-sign.

Meh, I’m fine with that and how we played it. Given the rules (which are dumb) but probably worth it to us to lose him in FA, and not paying him through his mid-late 30s, to have him for another year.

gleyber number 23? i just don't see the ceiling

I know it’s 5 years from now, so it’s kinda the point, but man some of those names seem pretty aggressive for how high they are considering it’s a lot of guys with 1 year or less and/or literally no time in the majors.

CBS sports predicts the 50 best players in 5 years. Only one (Javy somewhere in the 30s) is a Cub. Bryant is number 20 but for some reason they predict he will be on the Dodgers in 5 years

I worry that Javier Baez will never be much better than he right now because he rarely walks and is so undisciplined at the plate.

- Things that have been said at the start of every season Baez has played.

For what it's worth, scanning quickly it looks like the Brewers have the same September schedule, with Thursday 8/29 off instead of Monday 8/26. Obviously they are less likely to have rain outs.

Cardinals look to have the 29th, 9th, and the 26th off.
