How did Aaron Judge happen and is he for real?

Speaking as a dynasty league owner of Judge, he's always been thought to have out of this world power if he could cut his strikeouts down a shade. He's probably not going to hit 50 homers this season, though.

I never played much organized ball growing up, but when I was in high school I filled in on my Dad's rec league softball team a few times when they were short. Bottom of the last inning, tied 32-32 or whatever, two down, bases loaded, and I'm on second base. Batter loops the ball into left which falls in easily, and that's the game. I trot into 3rd and I'm watching the winning run score...and then something hits me in the back of the head. Figured it out pretty quickly. I turn around at look at the left fielder, who is making a sheepish face, and the third baseman grabs me...not sure if it was to steady me, or to keep me from charging into left field, but I just shake my head and walk off the field. There, a little kid walks up to me and says, "If that was me, my head would have been squished!" Rec league softball is stupid.

We were playing this ringer team that was playing down 2 leagues so they could qualify for some tournament of champions thing they had in Champaign Urbana. One of their players takes out our 2nd baseman sliding high into 2nd on a ground out. About 3 weeks later, our 2nd baseman's first game back against that same team. The guy that took him out grounds to 2nd and our guy throws a ball that hits him in the side of the head after bouncing off his shoulder. I'm playing first and this guy starts to get up like he's going to charge 2nd base. I look at him like "you're not going anywhere" and his teammates are all laughing at him.

Our guy said he didn't do it on purpose. He said he thought the runner was me. I was wearing a tie dye shirt and was about 5 inches taller than the guy he hit. Good times.

Makes me wonder what kind of injuries you'd see if for a day we went back to pre-1895 rules where beaning a baserunner was an out.

And getting paid 16 million a year to do so.

"It's something like when you got a needle inside you, and you try to move it — that's the pain, like that," Sanchez said. "It really hurt. It's nothing like what I feel when I had my shoulder or elbow issue before. This kind of pain kill me when I feel it."

Grant Brisbee, you magnificent bastard

That baseball was two weeks away from retirement, but then it was murdered. Seems like that should be against the unwritten rules. Sure, Harper looked at the ball for a beat, but wouldn’t you? When I hit a golf ball that far, I stare at it approvingly, like, yeah, I just made physics do that. If I hit a home run that far, I would probably pretend the bat was a spyglass and yell, “Yarrr, she won’t be troublin’ us anymore, mateys” before I left the box.
