As ridiculous as that exchange was, the ending of the game was even crazier (as I'm sure most of you know). Extra awesome bonus points if you can find the audio of the final play with Pat and Ron. Oh, wasn't hard to find at all:

at the risk of lighting the OMC signal, how the hell was ted williams so horsefeathering good

seriously, how?

dude plays 19 years (with a 3 year gap in there for the war) and didn't have a single season that wasn't well above average offensively

his worst wRC+ was 111. besides that one, his lowest was 156 as a rookie. even at 42, he put up .316/.451/.645 in 113 games. a 184 wRC+.

how the hell are you that horsefeathering good at hitting baseballs?

and only Donald Trump can rival him when it comes to self congratulations...but at least Williams merits it.

This crack me up at how easy it was to him

Sliders made hitting a little tougher. I could hit the slider -- no question about hitting it -- but I couldn't hit it in the air, and they got the big shift against me. And if I don't hit an absolute thirty-ought-six bullet through there, some guy's in the middle of it. I'm startin' to worry about what the hell's goin on. I'm havin' a little trouble. I'm an out. So then -- God bless the slider -- I looked for the slider. I'm lookin' for a slider, to hit it in the air, and here come a fastball. BOOM! I hit it outta the park. I said, 'horsefeathers, I can look for a slider and still hit the fastball.' Everything became easy again.

as someone who visited the "Ted Williams Hitter's Hall of Fame" in Florida as a child I can endorse this (I want to say he had himself as like the #2 hitter of all time or something - again, probably not crazy but certainly self congratulatory). Plus, while I never saw him, the reserved spot had a Lambo or Ferrari or something parked in it with some kind of vanity plate so I believe he was even inside somewhere. I'll have to ask my uncle or dad if they remember what the license plate read - but it was something (along with the car) that would be logical for his ride.

I was looking at fangraphs' all-time defensive WAR to see what weird names would show up, and #42 on the list is ... Greg Maddux????

How is this possible? His defensive WAR is so high (185.6) that despite his sub .400 OPS in 752 at bats, it gives him a hysterical positive career oWAR of 1.8.

horsefeathering hell, Tom Glavine is 61st with 169.1 and a 6.3 oWAR despite a .454 OPS in 709. Was this the Braves' secret or something, what the h*ck

i mean, i know, "lol gold gloves" but didn't maddux basically win it every year?

it's not exactly unheard of that he was amazing defensively

it just seems like so many considering a pitcher gets so few defensive opportunities.

Random 2-pronged question for you guys

1) does Fangraphs crash constantly on you with stupid claim-the-prize traps?

2) did you pay the money to become a member?

Fangraphs was the reason I finally broke down and installed an adblocker

I've never had a problem with crashing with Fangraphs on desktop or mobile(I don't use an adblocker mobile). Since I've always adblocked them on the desktop I did spring for a membership though. Need to get around to doing the same for BR, although I whitelisted their ads.

Ted Williams had 20/10 or better vision. He was a great fighter pilot too.

I thought I might have a virus on my phone but it's literally the only site I get this crap from

I didn't realize Beltre is only 22 hits away from 3,000 for his career.

3000 hits is still an extraordinary milestone. I mean, Joey Votto only just hit 1500.
