The Rangers are sending down Profar after picking up Pete Kozma who was DFA'd. I know there's been injuries and some disappointing performance, but they really seem to be screwing with his development. Don't think he has a ton to prove in AAA anymore.

A 10 year old outside the metropolitan area has never seen a metropolitans game on WWOR

I like the idea that Eaton didn't necessarily like hanging out with a teammate's 14 year old kid, but rather that he just likes hanging out with anyone named Drake. Rapper? British explorer? Whatever, just lets hang!

the red sox threw at machado AGAIN

Donged off of Sale in a later AB too.

Man, this has turned into some succulent, succulent BEEF:

horsefeathering [expletive]. horsefeathering [expletive] coward stuff. That’s stuff that you don’t horsefeathering do. But I’m not on that side, I’m not in that organization. They’re still thinking about that same slide that I did that was no intention on hurting anybody and I’m still paying, I’m still trying to get hit at. Getting thrown at my horsefeathering head, getting horsefeathering thrown at everywhere. It’s horsefeathering [expletive]. I’ve lost mad respect for that organization, for that coaching staff, for everyone over there.

Pitchers out there with horsefeathering balls in their hands, throwing 100 mph trying to hit people. And I’ve horsefeathering got a bat too. I could go out there and crush somebody if I wanted to. But you know what, I’d get suspended for a year and the pitcher only gets suspended for two games. That’s not cool.

So I guess this is Softball Chit-Chat, but it still applies to baseball.

Interesting rules question and it doesn't seem like anyone knows the answer to it because, hell, this just doesn't ever happen. So in the Alabama v. Ole Miss game, an Alabama player hit a HR. When she jumped into the celebration, she foolishly leaped over the plate. The Ole Miss catcher and the umpire both noticed this. The umpire handed the catcher a new ball and she tags the girl out. The rules question that this presents is whether she's actually out because it's a new game ball. The "live ball" is of course over the fence. I've seen some suggest that the catcher probably could have also stepped on the plate with the ball and it would have essentially been a reverse force out.

Brett's crew quoted the relevant rules for NCAA Softball: http://www.baseballisfun.com/2017/05/02/alabama-catcher-misses-home-plate-during-game-tying-hr-celebration-gets-tagged-out/

Basically, the fact that the live ball is over the fence doesn't matter, because it's an appeal play. Same way as if you appeal that a runner missed 1st base by throwing the new ball and stepping on the base, it's a gesture implying the appeal rather than the literal act of tagging/forcing the person out.

I think the Bama folks might have an argument considering the hitter was on their way back to the plate to touch it, but there might be some language similar to how you can't go halfway to the dugout on a dropped 3rd strike and then break for first.
