Fascinating article on why games are longer today compared to 30 years ago, by comparing games with basically identical stats 30 years apart. The 1984 game was a Harry Caray announced Cubs-Mets game on WGN, which is comedy gold.

Huh. That was a cool read; I definitely assumed most of it would be due to commercials. Didn't expect the main culprit at all.

Trivia Time!

Since the turn of the millenium, the most stolen bases by a player in a World Series has been 4, achieved 3 times. Once was by BJ Upton in the 2008 World Series, once was by Lorenzo Cain in the 2015 World Series. What was the third?

He was my first guess, but I was still surprised that he had that many when I looked it up.

When everyone figures that one out, see if you can guess which two people have the most strikeouts (as a batter) in a World Series (one occurred in 2009, the other in 2016)

Napoli?

Loved the part about Gary Matthews needing an apartment to rent and if you have one to call the Cubs. Gary will leave you passes to some of the games.

Clint Frazier supposedly asks the Yankees if he can wear Mickey Mantle's number

On WFAN today, Yankees radio broadcaster Suzyn Waldman told Joe Benigno and Evan Roberts that highly touted Yankees prospect Clint Frazier asked the Yankees “if they ever un-retire numbers.” As if that question wasn’t [expletive] enough, Waldman says Frazier wanted to wear No. 7, which once belonged to a little-known Yankees player named Mickey Mantle.
