I thought it was a joke, but someone pointed out that Jonah, who 'likes' more Tweets than everyone else I follow put together, didn't 'like' this one.

Incredible given he posted this same list last year without a peep.

Yeah, I don't think it's a joke. Didn't Simmons get mad at someone else doing a trade value column at some point? I can't find anything online about it, but I swear it happened.

I think you're right, may have been Barnwell when he stayed at Grantland/moved to ESPN. I've really soured on Simmons the last 5ish years, the hissy fit he put on after he was fired from Grantland/they shut down (though the shut down may not have been done in the best way by ESPN) was crazy with him acting like it was some personal vendetta against him rather than the reality being ESPN had to make a business decision to shut Grantland down because it wasn't/they couldn't make money with Simmons at the helm after dumping millions of dollars into his idea. His dog horsefeathers HBO show failing miserably was definitely something I enjoyed seeing with him thinking he was the smartest guy in the world in running sports media shows/sites after leaving Grantland.

With that being said I did really like a lot of the things Grantland did and they had talented people. But by all accounts Simmons was paying some ridiculous salaries and had crazy expenses and never made money and had trouble growing page views beyond niche markets. When your partner/financier is a major corporation you just can't get away with that without change at who's running that company or shutting that venture down completely.

Bill Simmons is the worst.

I just recently read his book about basketball. It was a humongous pile of dogshit. 800 rambling pages of Celtics bias, willfully obtuse arguments, straw men, bad jokes, and anecdotes about strippers. I remember people loving it when it came out. Why?

Well done.

I can't recall when I really started to sour on him. I stopped reading everything but the nfl lines stuff a long long time ago. It's weird to me when I hear people talk about liking him now.

Yeah the only little bit I follow him now is his NFL lines podcast with Sal.

That was probably the last thing of his I've seen/heard, and I probably heard one a couple seasons ago.

You're scaring Ezra Klein

Anyway, does Simmons even write anymore? What does he care if someone's using a bit he hasn't used in years in a sport he didn't even use it in?

So we're just going to gloss over that Gleyber Torres is listed just outside the Top 50 in the actual article? Because between Simmons and that I'm honestly not sure what upsets me more.

the last time i remember you this appalled at prospect love it was lindor and polanco JUST SAYING (i didn't love them either tho)

i mean, polanco really hasn't been anything special though, right?

the best thing to ever happen to gleyber's reputation is getting dealt to a yankees organization starving for prospects to latch onto. he went from very good prospect in a watered down minors (overall, not Cubs), to the next jeter really quickly.

To be fair somehow Lindor learned to hit.

depends on your definition of special. we've suddenly been spoiled with prospect success, but as a prospect I think you have to consider him a hit. took a step forward last year too.

this is an example of why scouting matters beyond stat lines

What an idiot. Not only for the general theme here but way to use Trumbo as his ideal kind of guy and not, you know, your 24 year old superstar who's going to be a free agent in 2 years. Comments like this can't help making him want to stay (I know money will be the driver, but still).

Negotiating 101, don't let the guy you are negotiating with know how great you think he is
