Cleveland is getting the 2019 ASG, aren't there AL teams/stadiums that haven't had it (not counting Tampa) since Cleveland last had one?

Since the Indians hosted in 97 (Including 2017 and 2018):

AL:

1999	Red Sox
2001	Mariners
2003	White Sox
2004	Astros (NL at time)
2005	Tigers
2008	Yankees
2010	Angels
2012	Royals
2014	Twins
2019	Indians

NL:

1998:	Rockies
2000:	Braves
2002:	Brewers
2006:	Pirates
2007:	Giants
2009:	Cards
2011:	DBacks
2013:	Mets
2015:	Reds
2016:	Padres
2017:	Marlins
2018:	Nationals

Teams that haven't hosted since 97:

AL:

Blue Jays (1991)
Orioles	(1993)
Rays (Never)
A's (1987)
Rangers (1995)

NL:

Dodgers (1980)
Cubs (1990)
Phillies (1996)

I'm not surprised at the A's/Rays not hosting it. The O's supposedly were in line to host it in 2014/2016 but the MASN/Nationals debacle pissed off the league so they didn't get it. The Cubs are rumored to be likely to get it for 2020 after the stadium renovations are supposed to be done.

I'm surprised that the Phillies haven't hosted it since they haven't had one at their new stadium yet (96 was at Veterans)

Yeah, the Phillies are the only one that really stands out there. I'm surprised Cleveland is getting a 2nd one before Baltimore. Here's my best guess at the next 7 years after 2019.

2020: Cubs

2021: Rangers (new stadium)

2022: Braves (new stadium)

2023: Orioles

2024: Phillies

2025: Blue Jays

2026: Dodgers

This could change if the A's/Rays move before then, which I think at least one of them would.

Does anybody else hate how games above/below .500 is calculated/referenced? If you finish 85-77, you're not 8 games above .500, you're 4, because you are exactly 4 games better than a team at 81-81.

But if you're 44-48 it will take you 4 wins to get to .500.

Like jersey said, this is two different things. Games above or below .500 is how many games it would take for you to get back to the fixed reference point of .500 in either direction. But it's a different measure with another team where the point of reference is always changing based on the other teams record at the time.

yeah, I guess I was just thinking in terms of end of season records.

Right, and over the course of the year I get that, I was really only thinking in terms of an end-of-season record and didn't specify that.

I didn't get to go to the ASG @ Wrigley in '90 but I did get the souvenir bat that was given to the first 500 in attendance.

Despite living about an hour from Chicago at the time, I found one on the side of the road in my city a couple days after the game. Walking home from school, it was just laying there in the dirt. Really weird.

Hopefully when Wrigley does host, the HRD has more dongs than there was in '90 (5 total)

It was a murder weapon

Did anyone else see that former Cubs pitching greats Jason Marquis and Ryan Dempster are going to be playing in WBC, representing Israel and Canada respectively?

Edit: Eric Gagne, who hasnt pitched in the majors in 9 years is also on Team Canada

According to two reports, one from Forbes and one from the Associated Press, Miami Marlins owner Jeffrey Loria is close to selling his team to an unidentified New York businessman, perhaps for as much as $1.6 horsefeathering billion.

Forbes was first to report the news, citing sources who say Loria has a “handshake agreement” for the sale. Both Forbes and the AP describe obstacles standing in the way of the sale becoming finalized, however.

Meanwhile, the AP reports that the mystery buyer has not yet done their due diligence, and thus the final offer could be much lower than $1.6 horsefeathering billion, a scarcely believable sum that would set the value of a club like the Chicago Cubs or New York Yankees in the skajillions.

Yeah, how the hell are the horsefeathering Miami Marlins worth $1,600,000,000 US dollars!?! I mean that's insane. The Chicago Cubs should be worth like $4-5 billion by that logic...

If I had to guess with who we are dealing with here.... Loria went to MLB to say he wanted to sell, they probably have some sort of pre-approved/short list of indiduals/groups they know want to buy teams and are capable. Loria was probably told by those groups the rough price and he thought it was too low so he went off and found his own buyer who's paying more but has a not as clean of way to finance it and maybe is personally a little toxic for MLBs liking. Or Loria is full of horsefeathers and doesn't have an offer close to that number but is saying it just to say it

Not to turn this into politics but this is exactly what pisses me off about what Trump is doing and how well its working. His supporters will never turn on him because he's gotten them to distrust the media and listen to him as the sole voice of truth. He tweets that Obama did the same Muslim ban, which is completely untrue in multiple ways, but because he said it and he's the loudest one out there, his supporters believe him and continue to cite this as fact. He literally does this multiple times every single day and people believe him unequivocally.

When other people point out how incorrect this is, they call them liberal snowflakes and say that they are pointing out fake news from the crooked MSM. So there's no arguing or reasoning with them. He questions the judicial system and suddenly the judicial system is biased and should not be trusted. The next person or entity that dares to challenge him will be the next to be discredited etc etc.
