Good God MLB scouts really horsefeathers the bed with Murakami.

The funny part is they almost have to trade him at the deadline.  He's on a 2 year deal and with a likely work stoppage in 2027, they won't get anything for him if they don't.  They could always extend him but he's going to want 2 to 3x a bigger contract than the White Sox have ever given and that's incredibly unlikely.

The 3 true outcomes on Murakami are wild.  I looked up Adam Dunn and his highest % in any year was 56.7% of his PAs ending in a K, BB, or HR.  Murakami is at almost 60% right now.  I'm not sure that's sustainable. He also has 14 HRs on 17 barrels and I learned yesterday that the expectation is about 50% of barrels become HRs, so that seems like it may regress to the mean as well.

The Rays are now 22-12.

They went 5-10 against the 5 NL Central teams, who they're done playing for the season.

They're now 17-2 against everyone else in the league.

I remember there being huge concerns about him hitting velo, and last night he hit a 98 mph heater above the zone out to dead center. He def passes the eye test as of now.

Liam Hicks - yet another example of power coming in small packages. I guess this guy was a R5 pick. Marlins might have hit the jackpot. Doesn't chase, rarely whiffs. Outperforming his expected stats but those are still strong.

Giants traded Patrick Bailey to the Guardians. Somewhat surprising. He's not a good hitter but he's by far the best defensive catcher in baseball. Guardians now have an elite but no bat tandem of him and Austin Hedges (who last put up an OPS north of .563 in 2018).

Guardians clearly care more about defense and Giants are believers in Jesus Rodriguez/Daniel Susac.
