Should we be afraid of the Mets at all or can I continue to enjoy their relentless pounding of the Dodgers?

The Cubs are 7-0 against the Mets this season. I so no reason to be afraid.

That was also before the Mets had an offense. They're a much better team now, but I don't think they're going to beat anyone 4 times.

Our offense was also worse, and Arrieta was a pitching god then.

Am I wrong or did the Blue Jays just completely torpedo any chance to resign David Price? They put him into a 7-1 game with game 5 imminent in two days. They clearly had no intentions of ever using him for game 5 instead preferring to go with Stroman. If I'm Price this is a huge slap in the face, because they obviously don't trust me with the game on the line.

I absolutely do not understand the thinking in what they did today, sure there may have been a spot to use him if you absolutely had to but the game didn't dictate it at all today. Giving Price more reason to leave in the offseason is good, however, so I approve it.

Price looked terrible in his start. In the playoffs, you have to play your hot hand as series can be swung on one game. There's no time to see if someone can work out of their funk. There were only two options for game 5: Price or Stroman, and Stroman looked better than Price in their respective starts. I would go with Stroman too.

But why not save Price for Game 5 also, even if you don't want to start him?

Rosenthal almost seems to imply that part of the reason was to remove any controversy over who should start game 5. But that's loonytunes.

Hollandsworth points out that our runs this series have been scored on:

7 HRs

2 safety squeeze bunts

1 IF single

That's nuts

Edit: whoops this is the non Cubs thread

I'm really looking forward to some completely stress-free ALDS viewing tomorrow. If the Cubs had a game coming up on Thursday, I wouldn't have been able to think about anything else, but now I can just sit back and enjoy a pair of Game 5's.

Who is everyone wanting in Game 5?? Kinda want the Dodgers with no Greinke until game 3 and Kershaw on short rest in game 1 or not going until game 2.

I much prefer the Mets. Greinke and Kershaw are on a different level than than Harvey/DeGrom/Matz/Syndergaard. I feel like the Cubs could get to those guys, while I simply can't envision a scenario where they're putting up 4+ runs on Greinke or Kershaw.

I honestly don't care much. I don't dislike one team much over the other. The Dodgers have a better 1-2, the Mets have insane SP depth...but we will dong both into oblivion.

watching playoff sports is so fun when your favorite team is awesome and has already advanced. i can't wait to watch that blue jays game.

The Rangers just completely self-sabotaged their own rally. First, they bunted, which is dumb, and then made the 3rd out trying to steal 3rd base

What are you even doing

how in the world is that not a dead ball

Well, I'm pretty sure I've never seen that happen before. I'm pretty sure that call is right, but even more shocking is that Harold Reynolds had it correct before the umps made their call. Great awareness by Odor to score.

oh my goodness please stop talking Harold Reynolds, it is not the same thing as if the pitcher drops the throw
