We can see if players are blocked, they are not.

The Rockies would not be remotely interested in a deal like that.

Doesn't hurt to ask the Rockies what they might want. If you could turn Arenado into 2 everyday position players and 2 starting pitchers, I think they'd listen.

The Cubs don't have 4 such players to spare(Black and Johnson are not MLB starting pitchers at this stage), and even then the Rockies would probably not be very interested(or at least get a much better offer). If they want to trade quality for quantity they can deal Tulo and keep the 24 year old cornerstone.

Yeah, I don't care if we can trade for him or not, but acting like he's not any good when we have Addison Russell grounding out four times a game is pretty preposterous

His numbers to this point look good, but are not likely to be indicative of his true talent. During that 2 month hot start his BABIP was .436. The numbers I posted after his BABIP was like .356 or something around there.

As the BABIP drops, so do his numbers, and he's exposed for being what he truly is: a no power, slap hitting, zero patience guy who relies on his speed to get base hits on his weak grounders (2nd in majors in infield hits, IIRC), and steals bags indiscriminately regardless of whether or not he should (leads majors in caught stealing). I also can't find a leader board for it, but he's probably in the Top 10, maybe even Top 5 of outs created. Castro is #1 (yay) with 276 (his number is bolded on B-R). Gordon is at 260, which I would assume is not far behind. So we might could possibly have one of the least productive middle infield offenses in history if Gordon was in the lineup instead of Russell. Also his OBP since June 1st is only 9 points higher than his batting average. His average is .286. You have to be some kind of terrible to pull that off.

He's seriously Juan Pierre incarnate.

And I know the discussion has moved off of Gordon, but still. Gordon is snake oil, and if he's as good as others think then the Marlins have no reason to move him, but if the Marlins end up being keen on moving him then something is rotten in the state of Denmark, IMO.

WHY DO YOU KEEP REPLYING TO THAT.

LOL cuz my usage resembles a deflector shield.

WHAT ARE THESE WORDS THAT YOU ARE SAYING.

I think this is what it would feel like to be doped up and wrongly tossed into an insane asylum.

Some team will overpay for him. And folks will lol when he has a avg of .245

This is 100 percent word for word how I feel. And people who don't like Gordon don't have to worry. Can't imagine he's this front office's type of player at all.

Brewers have made Carlos Gomez avaliable. Any shot at taking more talent from Brewers?

god i would love this so much

I'd be willing to give up quite a bit for Gomez. Moving Fowler to a platoon in LF with Coghlan and bench bat/roaming OF starter would really strengthen the team. Melvin seems like he has some Amaro in him though with his player evaluations. So who knows what it would take.

Have we taken talent from the Brewers?

Probably a Loften/Ramirez reference from 12 years ago, which was a trade that is fairly characterized as a 'take'.

Lofton and Ramirez were Pirates...

With schwarbs up on the big club adding another guy in the LF mix is just too much imho

You already had

Coghlan

Denorfia

and now

Schwarber

If you add Fowler, thats too many guys for 1 position

i don't really think schwarber is going to be in the "mix" in LF very much and don't think 2015 roster decisions should be made based on whatever time he might get there.

if the roster gets a little pinched before september, you get rid of teagarden

Agreed also add in Soler's youth and injury history in RF I think there's plenty of playing time between LF/RF for Coghlan/Fowler/Denorfia/Soler that they'd all be getting near regular playing time. Also Gomez isn't the picture of health so it's not like he wouldn't get some off days.

What makes you think that?

Nothing in particular, that comment is more driven by what I've seen Brewer fans think they can get for some of their guys. Which I admit is likely a faulty way to attribute something to Melvin

JMO, but it just seems as if Schwarber in the OF is not as easy and fun as many like to imagine. Once that umbilical cord is cut and he's just another aging, getting expensive MLer to criticize and analyze endless...well, he won't get the infinity optimism designated to favored prospects. I think it's catcher or traded for pitching, one of those trades Epstein talked about really early on that would upset some fans.

I pretty much agree.

My mistake. I somehow transposed two really crappy teams from that era in my mind.
