Even Phillips on the block? I should take off work on Monday.

wow

so ownership either never reacts or completely overreacts.

Why would you say this would be a complete overreaction?

can everyone including Cutler? I think that is overreacting.

Philips, Emry, coaching staff is about where I would stop at an extreme. I'd even give Philips/Emery one more shot.

Agreed. I don't think you do anything rash with the roster until you've canned those guys and let the new crew come in and evaluate what they want to do with the pieces already in place.

It doesn't say they are dumping Cutler, just that they are willing to eat any cost. Any personnel decision will be made by the new management IMO.

At least the McCaskeys appear to understand the level of incompetence being exhibited and are apparently embarrassed by the situation...the no-show's at the last home game probably helps as well.

Really surprised about the Emery rumors. His drafts haven't been terrible. But he did make a monumentally bad coaching decision, so I get that u don't want him making another. But this is so not the Bear way.

Agreed. That's what would make it so fascinating.

They had a rather massive housecleaning after the botched McGinnis hiring

Jesus, I hope they don't do the outside consulting agency thing again. That was really embarrassing.

I read something about the McCaskeys being close with Polian and may use him on a consultant role. However there's also rumors of Polian going back to Buffalo in some role.

However if the are hiring a president instead of a GM its a much different pool IMO that shouldn't require as much guidance.

yeah instead of "The Bear Way" maybe they'll try something that actually works

Yes, at least avoid that weird zone where the guy above inherits the guy below him for a year or two.

Or worse, the guy above gets to repeat his failure once again

Met a new Bear fan here the other day who seems knowledgeable enough, and is convinced that Cutler and the coaching staff will have to go. Says the players have given up on Cutler.

They certainly seemed like they gave up on something, whether it be coaching or the QB, in the New Orleans game. Against a much better Lions team, they protected the QB pretty well despite their obvious inadequacies. So did they play harder for Clausen to show their disdain for Cutler and to get ownership/management/fan base to further alienate Cutler?

The game against Minnesota will be interesting. Better "D" than New Orleans, but not as good as Detroit. Will the line open up the turnstiles once again or will they protect what is supposed to be their current and future QB?

How y'all feeling about Shanahan?

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports ex-Redskins coach Mike Shanahan "has very strong interest" to work with Jay Cutler again, and that he'd "quickly emerge" as a candidate in Chicago.

He's not at the top of my list, particularly if he's coming in with full control.

I would be okay with the hire.

If it meant keeping Cutler instead of just dumping his contract or selling him off for some ridiculously lopsided trade, I'd be all for it. If Cutler really is part of the problem or his skills have diminished to where he's no longer NFL caliber, get rid of Cutler and Shanahan and then bring in a new QB.

Any other serious candidate may require that Cutler go away.
