Can wins over Auburn, Texas A&M and LSU really be considered high quality wins at this point? Will the narrative remain that the SEC beats up on each other, or will the committee see the SEC for what it really is this year?

Wow I'm just finding out that NW beat ND. I watched the entire second half and turned it off after the pass interference call that I thought for sure ended the game. The only thing that could have saved NW was a fumble and I figured that was too unlikely. I literally did a double take when I saw the score on the ticker

Todd Gurley. :(

Wish the NCAA had suspended him longer.

FSU is the most loathsome team I've seen in my lifetime.

The only silver lining is they're going to get dumptrucked by Alabama, Oregon, or whatever actually good team they face in the playoff. Hopefully.

Melvin Gordon has 365 yards rushing and there are almost 20 minutes left in the Wisconsin/Nebraska game.

Record is 406 so he should get it.

Just got it, wow

Tevin Coleman ran for 307. He wasn't the leading rusher on his day in his own conference. He wasn't within 100 yards of the leader.

I was just scanning sports channels and saw this...on BTN's wrap.

I do feel bad nobody will even see what he did.

Down goes ASU. Weird stuff always happens at Corvallis at night, especially when the temps drop below freezing.

1. Oregon

2. Alabama

3. FSU

4. OSU

Pretty clear top 4 to me. Miss St has an argument too. But no reason to think these aren't the 4 best teams.

OSU lost to Virginia Tech. At home. Probably ok to question them in favor of TCU or Baylor.

Also if NW can beat Purdue and Illinois and Michigan can beat Maryland (or I guess OSU) the big ten will have 11/14 teams bowl eligible

Would you really believe, based upon Jimbo Fisher's history as a HC, that having a month to prepare won't allow us to have a great shot against anyone in our first playoff game?

It's going to be annoying when Iowa has a season where they lost to Illinois, Iowa State and allowed 51 points to Minneota. I hate this team.

was this game in doubt when you posted this?

Yeah, they were losing when I posted this. Iowa sports has a tendency to turn me into an over-reactionary idiot.

Illinois can be bowl eligible if they win out also. Home against Penn St and at N'western. But that would take N'western out. Would Michigan take a bowl bid if they are 6-6 and probably searching for a new coach?

I will almost guarantee that Miss St will stay in the top 4.

Not surprised by the mis champ going and not fully against it. However I will say, they absolutely should have won the LSU game and the Gamecocks game and losing those games was not due to poor coaching.

They should be 8-2 with a shot at FSU in tallehassee. FSU as we all know looks ready to lose. Potentially even the sec title game.

It's funny the margins colleges football. They are so thin. A third and 25 conversion by LSU in the final minutes to extend a drive and tie the game ill owed by an inexplicable Driscoll interception. The blocked fg and blocked pun tv South Carolina yesterday.

These things are the difference between a vote of confidence and being fired. And as stated on this board by the Tennessee fan, coaching changes should be made at peril because you can very easy go from mediocre and disappointing to horrible and embarrassing.

That said it's such a great job you have to believe they can write a blank check and get a sure fire winner (if such a coach becomes available).

It will be interesting with both Michigan and Florida searching this off-season. 2 huge alumni bases that will make these two very well paid jobs

The big problem with Muschamp, from what I've seen, is the development of players. Sure, not all the losses this year were directly a result of poor coaching decisions, but Florida should not have been in the position to lose those games.

For a ridiculous number of years (dating back through Urban Meyer and even Ron Zook), UF has been getting fantastic recruiting classes. That's not changed under Muschamp. However, what has changed is the performance on the field. The players simply haven't been developing and performing the way they should have and that has to be placed significantly (though not exclusively) on the coaching staff.

I am typically very conservative when it comes to coaching changes, but I think it was time for Muschamp to go. Now the key is Florida making the right move to replace him and they have the tradition, location and money to get whoever they want. My uninformed prediction is Rich Rodriguez is their next HC and they get really good, really fast.

Mullen to Florida makes sense.

I would think so too, but I've heard there were issues between him (or his wife) and the fanbase. I'm thinking she didn't like the fans' attitudes when he took the Mississippi State job or something similar.

A whole lot of money could clearly make up for a lot of those hard feelings, but I also think RichRod is the better coach so if you're going to throw large sums of money at somebody, might as well make it him.

Since college football as a whole seems to exist mostly to piss me off, I'd guess FSU and Alabama will pretty much play in the title game for the next 12 years in a row, with only new Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh breaking it up with the occasional bid. So no, I wouldn't.
