As far as the acc goes they only have one elite team I guess. Because I'm not gonna consider Clemson elite. But they do have Clemson, ga tech, miami, duke, Louisville which amount to a pretty good second tier. And you could consider ND a part of that conference based on the 6 game conference schedule.

I would call that fair analysis. And I would also posit that the teams you just mentioned is as deep as any league other than the SEC.

I find it ironic that UGA's "quality" win was a win over Clemson, but FSU's win over Clemson wasn't considered quality. Wut?

Let's talk about the narrative. Last year, close wins were prized, no matter who you played - it showed you were "battle tested." This year, close wins mean that you're not good - especially when you're being judged against your previous years performance, when you set all sorts of NCAA records.

It's a bit ridiculous, and I'm unsure of where the hate is coming from. Maybe it's due to the Jameis situation, maybe it's something else.

Whatever. Just keep winning, and everyone can deal with it.

I couldn't disagree with you more. Speaking as a fan of the 2012 Notre Dame team, close wins have never been used to hold up a team as being 'battle tested'.

FSU's performance this season has been undeniably less than spectacular. I wouldn't have dropped them behind a one-loss team myself (and if I did, it would've been TCU, not Oregon, jumping them), but I can understand the rationale of the move. In the end, FSU still has to beat two great teams to win the championship, so it doesn't change much.

Really? That's how Auburn was described in every (a bit of hyperbole, but many) report leading up to the BCSCG.

That's because they won the SEC. It had nothing to do with their wins being 'close'. If your problem is that the media and myopic Southerners automatically assume any SEC team is better than any other team, and use any mental gymnastics they can to justify it regardless of evidence, that's a different issue.

Also, "battle tested" is probably a more media friendly term to use than "is here thanks to a pair of impossibly rare flukes that we may never see again in the history of sports".

I haven't seen anybody argue that UGA is a particularly good team on a national level. It's the SEC West teams - Miss St., Bama, Ole Miss, Auburn - that people say are really good.

And if anybody tries to argue that Georgia is a particularly good team, they're embarrassing themselves after that loss to UF.

Georgia is a good team. Especially with Gurley. A team with Floridas talent is dangerous to pull off an upset. That doesn't mean Georgia isn't good. They are favored over the mighty war eagle tomorrow. If Georgia isn't "good" who the [expletive] is?

Georgia's pretty good, but probably only the 4th or 5th best team in the SEC depending on how you feel about Auburn (Miss St, Alabama, Ole Miss all ahead of both). My comment was directed to stuy's comparison of UGA's and FSU's wins over Clemson. For a team like Georgia that isn't a serious contender for the national title, it's a pretty good win. For a team like FSU that is supposed to be one of the two or three best teams in the country (and probably is), it's a win they absolutely should have gotten (and did).

Quality of win is relative to the quality of the team getting the win. Beating South Carolina was a huge win for Tennessee, but if a national title contender held that win up as something impressive, they'd be rightfully mocked.

Not carry the fire for the loathsome FSU, but what can they do but win the games on their schedule? They had a good, maybe great OOC schedule to go with their conference slate. I undertand skepticism of a team with a subpar schedule, but not when it's the reigning champion. And the people who say last year is irrelevant, please stop saying that, it's relevant for a few teams especially the national champion.

Bottom line is FSU should be no 1 overall. They are one of two undeafeted programs and won't he title last year. Let's hope miami or Florida beats them.

I won't say we should be #1, but there is no reason for us to be dropping to #3.

One thing I'm getting from the committee is that they're making this up as they go along. There are no rules, no framework, nothing. It's all subjective.

I think they are trying to get ratings for whatever matchup is going on that week.

I'm torn on FSU dropping behind Oregon. I just don't particularly care since there's no benefit to being No. 2 vs. No. 3 or No. 4. They're not going to drop out of the top-4 unless they lose so if they win out, they'll be in the playoff.

Looking forward to a lot today. The Bama miss st game wisc neb, the showdown in coral gables, gamecocks gators, and Georgia auburn. All should be great games. Also could be a huge day for the big 12.

It's going to be annoying when Iowa has a season where they lost to Illinois, Iowa State and allowed 51 points to Minneota. I hate this team.

Record is 406 so he should get it.
