Kalish DFA'd to make room on the 40 man.

Makes sense. Jackson and Vitters keep hanging on.

Szczur is also still on the 40-man.

Szczur actually may have a future as a 5th OF. He should get a chance to do some pinch running, defensive replacement stuff in September.

God, the Marlins are [expletive] idiots. As is Dave Cameron. What a [expletive] steal.

Between Turner, Doubront, Straily, and Hendricks-I think we've knocked both Wood and Jaxon out of our rotation next year.

Bremer is one. I'd be ok with it, but I hope the other one isn't Arias. I like that guy.

i have no idea who either of them are and i'm fine not knowing

IT'S ALMOST AS IF THE IDEA WERE TO GET HIM WITH A PITCHING COACH WHO SPECIALIZES IN HELPING PITCHERS WITH OFF-HAND HITTERS AND HAPPENS TO CHAMPION THE REPERTOIRE THAT TURNER ALREADY POSSESSES

Not only that, even with no improvement his 4.01 FIP puts him as the 4th best starter currently on the team. We just got a league average, cost controlled starter for peanuts. That's unheard of.

And depending on Straily's velocity, I think Wada might be better than everyone you named except Hendricks.

seems like those dudes got a lot of strikeouts at 23-24 in the NW league.

Yes, with their rapid movement and at their current projection rates, Cameron has them as league average relievers for their age 36 seasons and the first quarter of their age 37 seasons as well.

This trade is already a bust.

Well thanks again, Marlins, for throwing Turner away for seemingly no good reason.

And the Rockies, for being asleep at the wheel.

I'm much happier with Bremer and Arias than I was when we thought it was Dunston.

Definitely a nifty little pickup. He may never get fixed, but I have faith that somebody from the Turner, Doubront, Straily, Wada, Hendricks group will turn into something. I'm still not convinced Grimm doesn't deserve a shot to be in that group too.

Great move getting a guy with a pedigree for 2 low minor prospects.

Well, you stuck to your word.

Can't believe we traded 12 years of control for 4. Will Turner even provide surplus value on his contract?

That's even more confusing to me than the Marlins getting rid of him. Who exactly were they worried about losing?

give it up tim, i don't think anyone wants to read press releases.

Cubs send them to me in the mail. It takes me a few seconds to post them.

Keeps some level of fresh content on the front page.

Turner could blow out his elbow next April and it would still be a steal.

What would it take for this to me a bust? An existing labrum injury? A serial killing spree?

FWIW he has had known shoulder issues in the past, which many believe has led to his inefficiency, but it's never gotten to the point where he's been knocked out for an extended period of time
