To those looking to avoid a nuclear blast of meatballish outrage, stay away from Twitter when it's announced that Alcantara has been sent back to Iowa.

I'll be joining in with the "meatballs"

That's not even meatbally at all. He should be on the major league team.

Sending him back down is silly, but I understand trying to let teams get extra looks at Barney. And rewarding Alcantara with the ASG send off in AAA. He's obviously going to be back quick. If it helps trigger a trade of Barney, more power to it.

It sucks, but he'll be back very soon and this just gets me even more excited for what's coming.

They'll probably use the AAA ASG as an excuse, but getting sent down to play in it isn't much of a reward.

You don't even know what you are saying.

theo and co. asked for this. they could have easily called up watkins and avoided all this nonsense.

Well I guess we can take solace in that its pretty obvious alcantara will be back up at some point this year again.

I'd like to see what would happen sometime if nobody tried restricting anyone when the benches clear.

when i heard it was alcantara coming up for the two days, i really assumed he'd just get to pinch hit and play an inning in the field.

Agreed. Now not only will the fans be clamoring for Alcantara to stay up, but they will increase their demanding for Bryant and Baez as well.

That's very true.

I sure hope so.

Hendricks' fastball averaged 89.6 or 89.7 and peaked at 92.6. Six broke 91.0

I think he's got a shot at becoming a long term rotation option at least. All I'm really hoping for is for one of him or Wada to look good enough that we feel we're 4 deep heading into the offseason.

He's probably better than Niese

There were some things I didn't hate about him. He was more or less exactly as advertised: He might be an acceptable MLB starter, but he has no margin for error like walking two to open the game. The changeup was nasty.

I honestly think that if a ump gets a call like that wrong on replay then he should have to drink hemlock while his family looks on in considerable sadness.

was it really wrong?

It was closer than I thought on replay. The complicating thing is that he was so far up the baseline, which is mostly in his control because he was already camped there and not ranging to get a bad throw. That also means that even standing on the line pretty much leaves you no clear lane to the plate because you have to loop around the guy just to get to the circle.

And then he stuck out his leg to block the path behind him
