I don't think you can stand in the base line like that any more.

Umps are the absolute scum of the earth. Somehow they've managed to get their contemptuous opinions into replay. [expletive] them [expletive] them they should die.

Guys we have to have replay because then all the controversial calls will be gotten right...

We're gonna lose 8 million in a row to the [expletive] reds.

I honestly think that if a ump gets a call like that wrong on replay then he should have to drink hemlock while his family looks on in considerable sadness.

Sending him back down is silly, but I understand trying to let teams get extra looks at Barney. And rewarding Alcantara with the ASG send off in AAA. He's obviously going to be back quick. If it helps trigger a trade of Barney, more power to it.

It sucks, but he'll be back very soon and this just gets me even more excited for what's coming.

I think one of him, Baez and Bryant need to be up this year and he just makes the most sense. I just can't see the 3 of them being given significant time next year without any of them having a fair bit of time this year.

was it really wrong?

It was closer than I thought on replay. The complicating thing is that he was so far up the baseline, which is mostly in his control because he was already camped there and not ranging to get a bad throw. That also means that even standing on the line pretty much leaves you no clear lane to the plate because you have to loop around the guy just to get to the circle.

But the runner was coming from way outside the basepath anyway as he rounded third. He had a clear lane but chose to stay out to avoid the tag. I don't understand the rule entirely but on the surface it didn't seem to be some egregious mistake.

Send down Lake and Olt, call up Valaika to back up 1B, keep Alcantara

I cant even process that right now though, that game was exhausting

To those looking to avoid a nuclear blast of meatballish outrage, stay away from Twitter when it's announced that Alcantara has been sent back to Iowa.

I'll be joining in with the "meatballs"
