3/45 for Beltran. If they're honestly trying to stay under 189, Tanaka isn't very realistic for them. Unless A-Rod comes off the payroll anyway....

With Beltran they're at 182 million for 12 players, without A-Rod.

EDIT: Make that 175, they're at the backloaded part of a couple of those contracts.

I've got them at 12/150. Passan said they're at 177 after arb raises, without A-Rod.

Edit: The 177 figure includes Nova, Robertson, and Gardner. Considering they don't come close to 27 mill, I'm guessing it also counts insurances and stuff that count against the luxury threshold as well.

I could be wrong, but I don't think the fact that they received money from other teams for Soriano & Wells matters for luxury tax purposes.

ARod is coming off the books. The best he is hoping for is a 60 game suspension. He hasn't denied doing PEDs, he saying that the suspension was unfair.

But 60 games wouldn't take him off the books.

2/32 for Napoli, back to Red Sox.

Reportedly turned down better offers to stay in Boston. I think I read that the Sox are now paying more for the three years they initially signed him for after his contract was re-worked last offseason.

Out of curiosity what was the fake rumor?

A Joel Sherman account tweeted Dom Brown for Quintana and Phils were on verge of signing Nelson Cruz. Showed up on my timeline when CespedesFamilyBBQ retweeted it, an hour after it had been posted, yet no follow up from anyone else.

Gotcha.

Speaking of Nelson Cruz there was a rumor that he turned down a 5 year $75 million offer form Seattle which a) can't be true and b) if it is true, Nelson Cruz is an idiot and of course it could only be Seattle who would offer him that much money

He's probably just waiting for Seattle to up the ante after hearing about how he got a 5/75 offer.

Phils evidently have Lee and Hamels on the market, but aren't willing to pay any money, so they have a very small group of teams they're able to deal with, I guess.

Getting Lee for nothing more than salary relief should be a no-brainer for just about any team.

Well sure, but just because the Phils aren't going to pay any salary, that doesn't mean they're willing to let him go freely either. My guess is they're still looking for a good package as well.

As great as Lee is though, he's owed 2/62.5 on his deal or 3/77.5. Honestly, there just aren't that many teams that can add that contract and still make the other moves they already had or are planning to.

Presumably if a team makes that move they wouldn't feel the need to also make all the other moves they already had planned to make.

Where are you getting 2/$62.5 from? He's got two years at $25 mil per left before his option year. And if he stays healthy then his option of $27.5 million is all but guaranteed, unless he falls of a cliff and moves to the back of the rotation.

The buyout is guaranteed, so it's either 2/62.5 or 3/77.5, just as he wrote.

Ahhhh yeah, forgot about the buyout.
