Oh, I was saying that knowing Acta's going to have to deal with Javy not getting near that total. 200 at bats in Iowa is about the end of his minor league career, in my opinion.

I'm assuming davell is being sarcastic.

Nah, I honestly think Javy in the majors happens sometime in June. And I can see Bryant happening by the trade deadline. I'm just confident in those two.

My post was simultaneous with your follow-up. Was talking about your original.

I can see Javy in June, but Bryant? I don't think he's going to skip Iowa.

If he's up by the deadline like davell said, that could be about 3 months at Tennessee and 1 at Iowa, or 2 and 2. Javy spent about 2 months at Double-A. Bryant doing the same is definitely the positive/aggressive outlook but not totally out of the question with a prospect as good as he is.

Doesn't Theo and company require 600 at-bats or whatever in AAA before a call-up so they don't rush him like they did with Rizzo in San Diego? Or will that just not apply for Baez because he can probably mash ML pitching right now.

That was more than likely primarily a restriction on Rizzo for financial reasons.

No, Junior Lake didn't even have 200 at bats in AAA before getting called up.

Acta probably would have been better off had he not tossed in the "2,000 at-bats." Obviously, minor league at-bats are looked at qualitatively and quantitatively. So it's tough to really assign a number. But his overall sentiment still sounds good.

But here's a question: is there anything a manager can do to soften the transition of a player who may have been rushed? Should they sit and watch some pitchers or players? Or do they keep trotting them out there?

Give them a work/days off schedule in three team/series blocks and stick to the schedule. Let them know they aren't going to be benched due to performance. Obviously If they tank you adjust the schedule. But giving them a defined playing schedule may help to keep the player from pressing. Also lots and lots of reps in the field on off days and before the game.

I think it depends on the individual. The best managers can adjust their approach by understanding their players.

Looks Dothraki. Does he have bells in his hair?

He must have been bested in a fight very recently. He wears his shame with a smile.
