"What I did with that was really take adversity and turn it into success and I will tell you why," Trestman said when I asked him about it. "The day I left the University of Miami was very cordial. The first year I was there when Jimmy came in, this is basically the nuts and bolts of my relationship (with him), I got an offer to be a professional football coach in another league (likely USFL). That is when Jimmy came in and Jimmy got a very well known general manager in the National Football League and he said, ‘What do you want to do?’ And I said, ‘I really want to coach professional football. I love college but I don’t want to get into APR’s and discipline. I want to coach ball, 24/7.’ And so he helped me make a decision to stay at Miami for another year. After the season was over, Bud Grant hired me. And (Johnson) promoted that he wanted to see me go but really that is the last time I talked to him. I certainly haven’t had an exchange or a connection with him in over 10 years. So, it was surprising for me to see it (the tweet from Johnson). If it would have been 20 years ago, I would have shook my head and thought that this was something bad that would happen. But it was out of my control. What it turned out to be was a reconnection with Jimmy Johnson and I reconnected with him by getting his cell phone and texting him and saying I really appreciate that you would think of me (as being one of his guys) because I had no connection with him for so long. What it wound up doing was being an invitation to come down to Florida and if some point in time I was around and have a cup of coffee or a Heineken. So, that’s what happened."

@clarencehilljr: Former Cowboys running back coach Skip Peete has accepted the same position with the #Bears.

So I wonder what Bischoff is doing?

I've never sought them out but I know Pete Carroll does.

I'm guessing the college coaches tend to have it. It's for cool/hip dad types. Like me.

You mean like derwood.

I'm more of a Friendster guy

#Bears also interviewed #Ravens special teams coach Jerry Rosburg for head job, the mystery 14th candidate.

@MattAbbatacola: @670TheScore CALLER "I think Norv Turner would be good for the Bears Defensive Coordinator job."

He did a great job of shutting down Rivers and the SD offense this year. Could work.

Corey Graham rips into Lovie for never giving him a chance to play.

“Lovie Smith, he loved what I did as a special teamer and that’s what he wanted from me, no matter what,” Graham says. “So I could go out and practice, get six interceptions at corner, but no matter what I was going to be Corey Graham, special teamer. That’s just how it was. That’s what he wanted from me, so I went out there and tried to be the best special-teamer I could possibly be.”

“In Chicago there was no way (Ayanbadejo) was going to touch the field on defense. There’s no way,” Graham says. “Then I come here and I’m watching games and I’m seeing him out there playing and I’m like, ‘Wow, he’s getting a chance.’ And that’s all you want as a player, is a chance to play.”

Mike Tice is no longer with the #Bears, according to a league source. Sounds like he'll look for an opportunity elsewhere.

Just got a chance to listen to the Emery news conference. Oh gawd does Emery go on and on about "championships" and how Marc has won many "championships." Hard to listen to. I'm not sure what to make of the Canadian influx of opinions and people.

I thought Graham deserved to play when he was here and his time in Baltimore has shown that to be right.

Isn't twitter just 6 years old?

So he got in and out of Twitter before it was cool?

I wouldn't be shocked if the statement "hasn't tweeted in six years" actually means he hasn't sent a text message and doesn't really know the difference. Probably less shocking than him actually being into twitter 6 years ago.

As a man surrounded by young football players and with 2 young daughters I find that impossible to believe.

Damn, didn't want to see the whole defensive staff torn apart.

3 remain. Would've been more if Rod hadn't begged out.
