Terry Boers just said that McCoy wasn't crazy about Cutler. *shrug*

But he likes Rivers?

Apparently potential head coaching candidates were really excited about the San Diego vacancy for a chance to work with Rivers. They must not have seen Phillip the past few years or they really just want to live in San Diego.

Now that McCoy has gone to another team, it's obvious he's a terrible coach and the Chargers have made a huge mistake.

This made me laugh.

I think Trestman is an interesting hire, but I view Arians as the safest hire followed by Bevell.

Trestman has to be a huge question mark due to his history and the fact that he doesn't appear to be a very strong leader of men by all accounts. Also according to anonymous scouts on PFT (per The Score), Trestman's offense can be so complex that it'll lead to confusion with players and not fit different types of players.

i want bevell. the seahawks offense was unstoppable at the end of the year. he turned a rookie qb taken in the 3rd round into one of the top qbs in the league. part of that is wilson's ability to run, but cutler can move effectively enough, is taller with a better arm.

Maybe the new market inefficiency is to have short QB's who can't reach high enough to push their o-lineman?

So Hester definitely can't handle it then, and Bennett would be doubtful too?

It is a very Martz-like hire to me without the stubbornness.

Wait, is Bennett supposed to be not-smart? I figured he would be half-way playbook competent considering the Vanderbilt roots, but him not being smart makes more sense with him being inactive virtually his entire rookie year.

He doesn't make it obvious as often on the field, like Hester or anytime he opens his mouth, like Hester, but I recall grumbling that Bennett wasn't picking up the playbook his first year, and since then there were more than a few instances of him screwing up routes.

Not to mention Favre had the best statistical season of his career with Bevell as the OC.

He's jumped Arians on my list, but I have a feeling Bevell is the least likely of the three finalists to get the job.

Bevell is also interviewing at Jacksonville -- the team everyone has forgotten is still looking for a coach :).

Please hire Arians

why, because he was in the news and everyone recognizes his name? luck may have had a prolific year, but it wasn't particularly efficient.

I like Arians more for what he did in Pittsburgh. Also, he was Peyton Manning's QB coach during his first few years in the league.

Pretty much my take. I still find Trestman very intriguing though.

I think I like it. Of course, thats based on Gruden, Young, Gannon, etc speaking so positively about him. At any rate, I definitely am happy we went with an offensive guy. My question about Trestman is why he moved around SO much in the NFL, from OC to QB Coach and back to the other, when he was getting positive results?

I like the direction of the hire. I just have no idea how Trestman will work out. It's an interesting choice with Arians and Bevell still on the market. Without a doubt it signals that Emery is hell-bent on remaking this team with a greater emphasis on offense.

And that is a welcome change in attitude.

Good man, kicked butt in Canada, exciting hire RT @BradBiggs An NFL source just told me Bears will hire Marc Trestman as the next head coach

If you want to rip Marc Trestman, leave me out of the tweet. I love the guy. Football people know he's good. Has a chance to do really well.

I'm hearing the same crap re: Trestman as I do re: Hue Jackson. "If he's so good, why didn't he get better NFL jobs?" Because many are dumb

Some of u act like good coaches & talent evaluators (& players!) don't get overlooked & undervalued by NFL franchises. Happens all the time.

Wonder if there'll be a PC today.

How bold is #Bears GM Phil Emery? Fired a coach who went 10-6, passed on one who will likely be Coach of the Year and hired one from CFL

I have mixed feelings on this hire.

Wow, did not expect to wake up to the news so quickly.
