oh, i loved the guy with the goggles, hearkens back to the Horace Grant days

 

AND he was double zero AND he was wearing pink shoes

 

comfortably my favorite player of the tournament.

i didn't think i would care enough about some nobody, irrelevant mid-major to hate them, but i super hate creighton. as if their obnoxious fans weren't enough, they played like a dirty bunch of punks yesterday vs. carolina. i don't know if there's a player in basketball i hate more than gibbs (the guy who slapped henson's wrist, "drew" the technical, then winked at the creighton bench like a prep school bad guy from an 80s movie).

If Thomas Robinson wins NPOY it's a crime against humanity.

 

to be fair, it's exactly what you saw that made TRob's season pretty impressive. He's faced double and triple teams all year, but he still put up 18/12. Last night he couldn't make a shot to save his life. Probably his worst game of the season. And no one else could make a shot either, so kicking it out wasn't opening up the paint. Still, he had a double-double, and he was able to impact the game in a pretty big way on the boards.

When you're triple-teaming someone, you don't need the three guys to be Dikembe, Ewing, and Chamberlain. Three mediocre players are pretty tough to beat, too. Robinson didn't play well, but it's not like he had much room to operate.

Yeah, I didn't think going in that Creighton could do anything to piss me off. I was very wrong. Thugs.

Creighton is really annoying. They also think they have the best fans in the world because of how many people they can draw for a mid-major. Well, you're in a large metro area with no other competing games in town, you have a really nice arena and sell beer.

It would be nice to see them rounded up and flogged, but in reality, how could they punish them?

make 'em find their own way home

kick them off the band

force them to eat lunch in the same hall as non-whites

CNN) -- Five members of the University of Southern Mississippi pep band have had their scholarships revoked and have been removed from the band after they yelled a derogatory chant at a Puerto Rican player during an NCAA basketball tournament game last week.

 

The school announced the disciplinary action in a statement Tuesday, saying the five "have been forthcoming, cooperative, contrite and sincerely remorseful."

 

"They acted rashly and inappropriately, and now see the gravity of their words and actions," Vice President for Student Affairs Joe Paul said. "This is a teachable moment, not only for these students but for our entire student body and those who work with them."

 

The students will also be required to complete a two-hour training course on cultural sensitivity, the school said. The school has not identified the students.
